Should we be too happy about Gilmore and Cooks?

With all the money we'll be paying out soon, will we be able to pay these guys to stay here for several years? I know we will be able to free up some money if we extend Dak (not a Dak thread). But we'll have lamb, and diggs to lock up, with maybe a lineman or two to look at locking up.

Can we afford this, we're all glad you have these two new editions even COOG (I said it!). Just want them to be Cowboys for years, especially if they're playing well. Please give your thoughts....

I think the goal is for these guys to be high end stop gaps and have younger cheaper guys take over. That’s how the FO operates with outside FA’s, especially aging ones.

Look for guys like Tolbert, Eric Scott, Bland, and any picks that surprise this year/happen next year to be the ones the FO wants to fill these roles cheap.

It all depends on how they play this season.
And you never know what the jones boys will do.

As long as they are leading the way...pay 'em.

Cooks and Gilmore are instant impact players….Mazi is a great addition too but his impact will be gradual

Schoon?…….who knows?

They are old you do not want them for multiple years. Hopefully we get their last 1 or 2 good years on their current deals then we let them go away and get a comp draft pick.

I doubt either will see another contract from the Cowboys regardless of how they play. Cooks is signed on for two years at the age of 29....but his salary is too steep and i am sure the FO will look to replace him. Gilmore is 32 and will not be getting a multi-year contract anytime soon from anyone. And his salary is too steep as well, signed only for 2023. Also FO will be looking to replace him with a cheaper and young CB. These guys are not long term solutions and the MO by the FO is to go for cheaper labor, especially with Parson, Diggs and Lamb coming up soon for extensions.

But yes, be happy for them this year. Hopefully, they can make an impact on the offense and defense.

These guys aren't long term aquisitions.
The NFC may not be this weak long term either

Gots to go all in......like they should have last season

TY HILTON and Hankins was too little too late

Neither player will be here several years. The Cowboys are their fifth team. I would say a year or two for both of them and they’ll be on to their 6th team.

I always thought Cooks and Gilmore were rentals. One or maybe two years. These are not long term solutions this is about winning now.
