It's hard to tell whether confidence in the knee or rust/timing were off last year, but he was pretty poor at those competitive balls and getting to them at the high point.

If that doesn't improve - regardless of how healthy his knee isn't - he won't be much improved.

Why? It's almost verbatim for the post acl player handbook. Aside from AP I can't recall anyone come back and be the same year one. AP was a different animal.

Would have thought it would be physical, but it was mental. And it wasnt just the injury. He seemed to cave into the pressure of getting a big new contract and living up to be the #2 WR with high expectations. He said point blank he feels much more comfortable being the #3 guy and having to only beat 1 on1 coverage.

Cant pay a #3 WR 12 million per year.

Sadly it reflects the mental aspect of todays WRs , more finesse and less tough. last year we saw our receivers giving up relatively easy when bullied by defenders and not fight for the ball which lead to some interceptions.
Gallup had several mental errors , may be didnt trust his knee to make those cuts ?

Irvin, Dez even TO were example of tougher receivers who get the ball.

Nah, Gallup has that. He's got some serious athleticism. He just can't do it on a torn ACL.
