Micah calling out the Rookie haters

What did he say that was wrong? I'm sure you'll dodge that question like a coward
Micah is exactly right.

I mean… He is like a 1 in a million player and is more talented than everybody else on the field… yet he still had some issues learning the ins and outs. It happens.

I wrote on here before preseason game 1 that a lot of fans were going to be saying Mazi isn’t good, and sure enough there they are doing exactly what we knew they would. NT’s don’t have a lot of stats, and rookie NT’s certainly don’t because their learning curve is large as rookies. He will start to figure it out but his job is nothing like the Aaron Donald’s and the Chris Jones’ of the league.

He’s not going to show well in the preseason, period. Every NT, including the pro bowlers will get moved off of their spot sometimes. Even the guys who have been in the league for a long time.

I knew some people were going to blow Mazi up on here. It is expected and should be looked at for what it is.

Honestly Idc what Micah says…that kid looks overwhelmed.

Not saying he won’t be a good player somewhere down the line but that chance that it happens this season is not good. And in this era you need 1st rounders to contribute immediately.

Very overwhelmed and tired for some reason!

You see how quiet he got? Smh. But yes, Mazi deserves the same grace as previous 1tech dt first rounders. Derrick brown/Davis etc. Seems only cowboy fans are gloating about their guys shortcomings though. Strange fanbase

We have almost 30 years of shortcomings!

What's missing from too many of these assessments is that the job of a 1-tech is so very unglamourous, and second, that few rookies at any position ever are so impressive that they're instantly regarded as high impact assets.

Rush to judgment is a thing, and it's especially a thing among football and basketball fans. (Baseball fans have always had patience imposed upon them by the minor league gauntlet... but forced or not, at least there is practically zero baseball fans right now getting worked up that their first round pick is taking some time acclimating to a higher level of the game than they've ever played before.)

Some people just look for things to complain about. Some people have no patience.

Some people check both those boxes. :p:):banghead:

I think it’d be different if Mazi in the preseason games didn’t look just like Mazi in college tape….underwhelming. Also, being a first round pick, reach or not, brings expectations of instant impact. If it takes 2-3 years for the lights to come on for a DT then why draft one? By the time you get anything out of them it’s time for a new contract. Esp since the position is so “unglamorous”. Hankins cost us all of a sixth round pick and a couple mil.
