Dumping on Mazi Smith or any rookie is kind of silly after 1 or 2 preseason games. First Mazi was not that bad against the Jags. He was not great against the Seahawks, but it is still only two games. I said a long time ago do not expect much from rookie DTs because it is rare when they make a major contribution. Derrick Brown was pretty average his first year. Jordan Davis was pretty average last year. Mazi and Jalen Carter will not be spectacular this year. You may see a flash here and there, but as rookies they will have some bad plays and some bad days. If Mazi keeps his head, he will be fine. Given the rookies some time to learn the NFL game. In two year, Mazi will look like a great pick. Patience, Grasshoppers.

Having said that, sometimes you can see a player lacks an important characteristic to give pause. I think Eric Scott has slow makeup speed and this will kill him in the NFL. Maybe he learns to anticipate with experience to make up for it. We'll see. But that's the point. Give them all time to figure it out and reach their potential. Landry said 3 years and I think that is a fairly accurate assessment. Some may get there sooner, some a bit later. But all need an adjustment period.

Micah is no doubt one of the best players in the league- outside of that he’s a typical young aged mouth breather.

I mean, he's got a point. There's a learning curve from the college level to the NFL level. I think it's important as fans to have some patience for the rookies.

Ikr? I think it's amazing that people are glossing over Micah's points because he's "of a different generation". I think Micah Parsons has a good point.
It's a glitzy glamorous endeavor. Why wouldn't people judge it? You represent the best of the best. The elite of the elite.

It's hard work....talent....luck.....but also a very high honor. There's of course a very high expectation. And there's huge payoff too...even for JAGS. Does Micah know how long it takes us shlubs to make one million dollars? Not sure he does.

The good ones....can maneuver their way through it. With hard work....talent....luck. Why would these elite athletes give to ships about what some people think?

Get to it....do your job....fulfill your destiny. Let the cards fall where they may...and protect your dollars instead squandering them. Even if it is just practice squad. Go flip burgers if it's so oppressive...see how that goes.

there is a big differnece when you are playng with starters than with backup guys. Mazi will be fine and in a rotation
Probably will be up and down, like he has been in the games so far, and like most rookies are. Micah was a star from the beginning, and that's what you expect from your top 10 rookie (top defensive player in the draft), but most have good and bad moments ... some more good than bad and some more bad than good. Doesn't define their careers, though, just their rookie years.

I get that, but, at the same time, it's important to understand how player development works. I think it's important to understand that, especially with NTs, it can take time to develop them. We are entering territory with Mazi that we haven't been in for 30 years. NTs can take time to develop. I'm willing to be patient and let Mazi grow. Given we have Hankins, that should help him grow (along with Quinn and Parsons).
