One thing I am looking forward to is seeing how Pollard is used this season. Between Weeks 8-15 last year he averaged 15 rushing attempts and 4 targets per game, so lets call that 20 touches. My guess is that this will be nearer 15 in total to try and keep him fresh, particularly during the first 10 games. I think it would be a mistake to give him more work
 
It will be interesting to see how the balance his workload this season. I think he's looking at 15-18 touches a game on average.

They will try to keep him fresh with Rico, Duece and hopefully Luepke.

My hope is they are able to recognize when his services aren't needed so much, and they rest him more when we are in firm control of games.
 
I'd guess in the 10-15 carries a game range. This isn't the old school NFL where you have one guy getting 25-30 touches per game, every game. They tried something similar to that with Zeke and look how quickly he burned out. They will give him plenty of rest with their committee of backs, but he will be out there in the most important situations.

So you think now that he is the lead back getting paid 10 mill per year his touches are going to decrease?

That makes little sense.

The Cowboys would be wise to get other RBs involved. 17 games is a long season and if they are blowing out another team Pollard should be enjoying the game from the bench in the 2nd half.

absolutely not there's a reason we're doing running back by committee and I wanna see the same production and touches as last year and keep him more fresh did you see how he ended the year literally 3.8 yards per carry no explosive plays no touchdowns and hurt twice over A5 game stretch to end the season.. There is no way a coach is gonna be that ignorant to just waste pollard's legs before the playoffs we saw what will happen we need to use the other guys more then when the playoffs start you can drop 20 on the man let him do his thing but you need to keep fresh legs and that's why you go with running back by committee

Wrong you don't ever go by a man's money on how many touches he's getting you know what we need Pollard we need Pollard to be fresh for the playoffs period end of story you still only give them 15 touches a game yes running back by committee I mean how much money does some wide receivers get and how many targets do they get a game I mean how about debo Samuel he got all that money but really how much more did he run after he got paid how much more targets did he get after he got paid.. I'm betting nothing changed and with Tony Pollard the way he ended the season 15 touches was all you wanna give him until you get to the playoffs and then you can hammer him all game long if you want... The key to a season is not how many touches and production you can get out of a player it's making the playoffs and having those players as fresh and healthy and ready to go so they can produce in the playoffs and lately that hasn't happened the run game is the sole reason we have lost the last three playoff games some of it's to do with the offensive line also not healthy..

Sorry to all you fantasy football Madden playing fans this isn't about touches this is about utilizing his strength his strength his explosiveness he can't do that if you waste his legs... You need an example other guys who get limited touches got paid like Alvin Kamara Christian McCaffrey all that kind of stuff they're not loaded down with carries they're there to make the big plays when needed

If the team thinks he is fully healed and doesn't need to be eased in, my guess is 20-22 touches is about the ballpark of how they will use him.

The key will be how much we can rely on the backups to carry some of the load. Tony Pollard isn't blessed with a Tony Pollard to back him up like Zeke was
 
IMHO his production last year was peak. Stick with that plan and keep his production high. Spread out the touches to others that were wasted on fat zeke.

FWIW 10-12 catches from a WR is probably gonna get you close to 150 yards and around 1.5 TDs. I am not saying it is right or wrong but 10-12 touches from a RB is probably gonna get you around 50 yards and 0.5 TDs. The game has changed. The rules have changed. The entertainment value of the WR far exceeds the entertainment value of the RB. Follow the money it will tell you everything you need to know. Nobody gives two farts about running backs and more.

Derrick Henry averaged just under 24 touches per game last year. TP isn't doing that.

15-18 touches is where he'll end up.

You worry about the regular season, I'll worry about the play-offs. It makes perfect sense

Way too many
 
Some of the best fantasy analysts are bulling up Pollard as this clear number 1 guy in the backfield.
It will be RB by committee.
