I think on average he'll end up with 15 per game. 15 per game comes out to 255 carries over the year-if he plays all 17 games.

Notable RB's within a 240-270 carries last year:
Najee Harris
Cook
Jamaal Williams
Sanders
McCaffrey

I know Sanders and Williams played all 17 games. With Zeke gone, and no more favorites, I can see the offensive staff rotate in guys like Dowdle, Vaughn and possibly Luepke over the year and potentially on short weeks/guys being nicked up

FWIW 20 carries comes out to 340 carries a year. That's the amount Derrick Henry(349) and Josh Jacobs had

I could see thinking it's too many, but not "way" too many. 15-18 rushes & 3-4 receptions doesn't seem excessive
Fair comment, but I would prefer 12-14 and 1-2. Over 12 games that's a 25% increase

15-18 touches and 3-5 passes is a good number for pollard. I’d like to see deuce get 5-7 touches and 2-3 passes per game

They're not paying him 10 million for 15 touches/game. Mistake or not, expect somewhere in the low 20s total touches.
I respectfully disagree. They are paying to be what he has been not as a bell cow workhorse.

Run him into the ground.....move on and draft another one, run him into the ground, rinse, repeat...just like the shampoo bottle directions state

He's being paid 10 million this season, if that doesn't scream bell cow to you, then I don't know what does!
It doesn't to me. It smells to me like a top weapon on your offense. One that will make a difference in the playoffs

They have every incentive to give him the full workload.

Yes, they'll want him fresh for the playoffs (should they make it there), but it's going to be tough to limit him when they know what he is capable of.

I see 18 carries and 4-5 catches per game.

Dowdle and Deuce will have 10 touches between the both of them on average.

They franchised him based off the touches he was getting last season. If he ends up getting 20+ touches per game he won’t be as effective and probably won’t stay healthy. It will also mean that our other RBs probably aren’t doing the job.

equates to 1300 yards (not including the post season) at his career average per carry (5.1) I'll take it...

That would leave 12-14 & 1-2 with the other RB's I just don't see Pollard being restricted to 50% of the RB activity.

Last year Pollard averaged 12 runs & 2.4 receptions per game. Even if you take out the 2 games Elliott was out it was still 11 runs & 2.5 receptions.

I can't imagine Pollard's usage not going up with Zeke gone.

That said, I would be happy with that if we had another RB that we would be happy with taking the bulk of the slack, but I don't think we have that.

I'd be happy with 50% of the work up to Thanksgiving.
Mike has to scheme ways to win games without relying to heavily on Pollard

Pollard will be worn out by the Cowboys. He is the leading back at 10 mil; the other backs are low pay backups. There are fresh low pay backs entering the draft next year.

Cowboys should have stocked up on backs this year. Should have taken another one in the 4th.

As long as he holds onto the football and just not touches it, I’ll be happy

I think we'll be able to predict the teams mindset regarding Pollard's future by the carries he gets. It's possible he could get the DeMarco Murray treatment.

One thing I am looking forward to is seeing how Pollard is used this season. Between Weeks 8-15 last year he averaged 15 rushing attempts and 4 targets per game, so lets call that 20 touches. My guess is that this will be nearer 15 in total to try and keep him fresh, particularly during the first 10 games. I think it would be a mistake to give him more work
'Majic' - great post.
The Cowboys' "Texas Coast Offense" will be in Let's Try This Mode as far as them running the ball to start the 2023 season.
Ronald Jones' injury + suspension, unproven Davis and Dowdle, rookies Vaughan and Luepke = to trial by error & fire.
In other words - put all of them in, and see what each RB can do.

Some of the best fantasy analysts are bulling up Pollard as this clear number 1 guy in the backfield.
It will be RB by committee.
We got scrubs too.

I think next season we get the big back again.

Too much cap right now.
