Cynthia Frelund Projects 8.9 wins

Didn't Cynthia Frelund start out as NFL Network's eye candy on the set? The numbers and analytics person?
Long hair and tight skirts are great and it's clear that a few networks are giving viewers more and more of this journalism trend

It's impossible to know the level of editing by network producers of the pundit's analysis to gin up reaction. I do know Cynthia Frelund has an impressive background in analytics.
Yes she does. And at some point her opinion does give me pause. I'm just not totally sold on it.

She is actually a financial analyst

So not agreeing with someone's predictions for the Cowboys allows for personal insults and demeaning comments to be made against this woman? Yeah, because Eagles fans are the worst ones ever. LOL
It's always so interesting to me how someone's random, neutral opinion can send others into attack mode when they disagree. See the dumb Dak debates here for reference.

She’s on NFL Network. Anyone who has a platform to talk NFL football is going to create a stir amongst fans with their opinions.
Especially concerning the Cowboys....
THE most popular sports team in the world!!!

I had to look her up - I recognized her after seeing her picture, but can't say I have watched/listened to her much

He has an education in science & analytics, and a background in business, including the business side of things with the NFL & ESPN, but other companies not related to sports as well. She also was a Pilates instructor for 5 years

Ultimately it seems she was someone the network thought could do a reasonable job discussing the game while offering male viewers someone they would like to look at.

In short, there is no particular reason to put stock in her prediction.

Even more interesting is her numbers before preseason kept Dallas at 3rd in the NFC and had NYG at third from last in the conference. They were substantially massaged to get this outcome based on preseason in which NYG played one series with their starting O. Their starting OL looked disastrous. The Dallas backup defense repeatedly made starting offenses look bad.
Surely they're not using preseason scores, that's ridiculous,,,

No matter what her football choices are!!!

odd how when some of us say that analytics are flawed we are attacked yet when an analytics expert uses data to predict the season they are attacked.

almost like it proves the point that it's all flawed and that people only accept the answers that support their opinions.

Projecting 8.9 wins for the cowboys. Finish 3 rd in the East missing the playoffs. Thoughts.

Ceiling: 10.2
Floor: 6.9
FanDuel over/under: 9.5

My two favorite Micah Parsons stats: 1) His burst (speed a player reaches in first 3 yards traveled) is No. 1 among pass rushers over the past TWO seasons; and 2) his win rate when computer vision shows that a blocker is squared up on him ranks in the top 10. Parsons should once again find himself in the thick of the Defensive Player of the Year race.

Remember how your algebra teacher would say you have to show your work, or you don't get credit?

It's like that.

How is anyone supposed to take this seriously without some more transparent explanation of what assumptions were made in order to perform the calculations?

Nothing burger.

8.9 smarts just a little. Below the Giants stings a tad. Seeing your team sandwiched between the Falcons and Saints is downright insulting. Desmond Ridder - C'mon, man!
