Could McCarthy and Quinn co-exist together indefinitely?

Not saying that McCarthy has completely earned a contract extension yet or anything like that, but suppose the Cowboys did win a Super Bowl this season. If you were Dan Quinn, why would you want to leave? He gets paid like a head coach and he is one of the best at what he does. McCarthy is perfectly happy calling plays and basically being an OC. If both coaches work well together and like things the way they are, why change it? is it about legacy and a stupid job title? If I were Quinn, I would stay!

I just want to give both those guys their props.

Coach Mac has been treated wrong by both the national media and our fans. Sean Payton is the darling with no one ever giving McCarthy credit for the same track record. (And don't get me wrong, loves me some Payton too, great OC here)

I said it from day one, the Cowboys need a level head working man's Coach like McCarthy to counter-balance the Jerry Hollywood Show we've been dealing with since the 90's.

And Coach Q who gets his props.... Much respect to him for not turning this into a Wade/Garrett fiasco, because we are always open to the undermine factor with our unique Owner/GM structure. Players love him, and he still is loyal to Coach Mac and doesn't cause drama. I know that if today McCarthy god forbid had some medical issue and had to go out, we wouldn't lose a beat with Coach Q taking over.

Moore is gone, he was the hand-picked Jerry guy. This is Coach Mac and Q's Team. And I feel damn good about the season's potential. Players confident as they should be, but not a supportless talk factory like it was in the Hot Boyz era.

Both these guys should be in running for COTY and Asst COTY.

If you're being paid and chucking wins and super bowls...you gotta ride that out....for at least awhile. Kinda like the stock market...just get out before the crash.

Yes they could. Seems that Quinn learned that the grass isn't always greener when he was HC at Atlanta
...sure they went to the sb ..but they lost in the worst way possible.

It all fell on him. Not fun.

I also learned this in my professional life...chasing the money and titles got me in miserable situations. Now I am in a great place and happy and I tell headhunters they would have to triple my salary to get me to leave....

Plain and simple- No. One of the truths about all team sports: Team Success makes all coaches highly sought after. And this is just game one. There are no patterns to the season yet. We don’t know how this all plays out.

But if we have a great season, I doubt Quinn stays.

Who knows what the future holds. Quinn has already stuck around when he could have left. He's transformed a terrible unit into a dominant one, and has a generational foundation piece and a special relationship with him. Could easily see him staying.

Possibly so. He might just really enjoy his job right now and if that's the case then the OP will most likely be granted his wish.

Depends on Quinn's personal priorities. If he feels the burn to lead a team to a championship, he is gone. I don't see how the Cowboys could consider replacing McCarthy with Quinn right now.

I keep thinking each season that Quinn is gone, yet he keeps coming back. With that said, if this defense does what we think/hope it's going to do this season, I think he is a goner. There will be too many teams knocking on his door.

Who knows what's in a man's heart? There are several examples of excellent DCs that stayed DCs and there's certainly a chance Quinn feels the same way. He enjoys plenty of acclaim as the Cowboys DC and he's handsomely compensated. If his family likes living in the Dallas area he might decide to stay... I would.

I kinda think Quinn is running the restaurant. Quinn runs lunch and McCarthy runs dinner. They both get paid well for it and get the credit they deserve

I think Quinn is in no rush unless the ideal HC spot comes up.
IIRC there were rumors about Seattle when Carroll hangs them up.
Think it has to be either the right situation or just the perfect location he wants to live in/family wise.

But I doubt he's eager to take on a bad team, even with a high pick next year when it's a 2-3+ year rebuild-even if hitting on most of the picks.

You would have to be stupid as a Coodinator to leave Parsons. You just don't get a better situation than what he brings to a defense and all the things you can do with it. He has got to be having a blast!
