Until Dak gets extended, the “story” will continue to have legs. Dallas can save $$$$ by cutting or trading him!!

It’s clickbait. Dak and Dallas is always a story.

But until they tie the knot, I guess people will wonder if Trey Lance is going to swoop in and rescue the franchise lol

Dak getting an extension is inevitable IMO.

The only way Dak isn't getting an extension is if his play completely and totally collapses or if he suffers a catostrophic (career threatening) injury this year.

The Cowboys need to do something about that 2024 cap hit and the easiest thing is to spread it out a few more years. I think the team should give Dak more money up-front, that way they can have an "out" in case something happens in the future or if Lance does someday prove to be his successor.

As for Lance, there's no way the team will get an answer about him this year unless Dak goes down and they decide not to go with Rush.

Anyone who thinks Dak is actually going somewhere is wishful thinking on their part. He will play here as long as he wants. They are not trading him. Absolutely not cutting him. And he is never going to hit free agency. So these statements are surprising at all. Can you do better than Dak? Sure, but those guys are locked up full time and going nowhere. Can you do worse? Absolutely and not even close. We played against one the other night who got 40mill a year for being barely average. That is the QB market these days and it's only going up. So front offices want to get in front of it and try and keep extending their guys at a current market rate. But these players and their camps know the market is skyrocketing, too so will probably try and get shorter deals so they can keep extending at higher market rates.

I doubt Dak will be sent packing until his physical condition demands it. In other words, injury or injuries would likely be the moving force.
It seems fairly apparent that our FO isn't disposed to allow performance enter into the question. Anything considered fair may suffice.

As an off shoot from Stephen, that is alright...we can always go over his head just for disclaimer sake...:muttley:

This IMO should kill any talk of Dak NOT getting his extension for at least 3-5 more years. Trust me, Stephen already has a good idea of what Dak's price tag will be, yet it didn't stop him from making the statement.

Stephen Jones: Dak Prescott will be here “for many, many years to come”

Thanks for posting. Most of us knew this already but always good to get confirmation.

What Stephen says today and does 2 years from now is always subject to change.

Both Jerry and Stephen are full of beans (or something else, to remain unnamed.)

“Dak’s the unquestioned leader here on this football team,” Stephen Jones added. “He’s got rare skills in that area in terms of being able to lead the team. You know, we look at Dak as a guy who’s gonna be around here for many, many years to come. And I just really felt like Trey Lance, you know, upgraded the room and gives us a chance if something were to happen to Dak to stay in the mix like other teams have done in the past. I know Philly did it one year with Nick Foles. And sometimes you don’t get your Number One guy all the way through the year and it’s always nice to improve that room.”

Other "star" media players that the Joneses would publicly state that they wanted to remain with the club, but were eventually released or traded:

Dez (released), Zeke (released), Amari Copper (traded), La'el Collins (released), & Jaylon Smith (released).

Jerry traded for Trey Lance for a reason.
