Michael Penix Jr

a lot of people are talking about him. If season ended today, he’s probably one of the three players invited to the Heisman ceremony, as well as a top 15 pick in next year’s draft.

Ryan Leaf loves Penix. That right there would make me lean to Bo Nixx(a comparable QB)…:muttley:

Penix is a great college player - throws with exceptional touch and timing. My worries with him are around how thin he is, and his injury history. Not sure how well he will hold up physically in the NFL.

Also, his coach, Kalen DeBoer, may be the most underrated head coach in college football. He's outstanding.

His WRs are scary good, seems like they create a ton of separation most of the game but he was accurate and really doesn't put the ball in harm's way too often.

Penix throws a really nice back-shoulder fade down the sideline, something we sure could have used vs the Niners cover 3.

How come no one is talking about him?
because the narrative that the media has been running with is that Caleb Williams is Mahomes 2.0 and the forgone conclusion that he will be the 1 draft pick. CLEARLY CW isn't as good as Penix or Nix. Penix showed he should be the main guy. This kid has Moxy and is deadly accurate. His release is fluid and he doesn't need to be on the run to be effective. CW is raw in my view and will need time. The game last night against the Irish showed this. He was exposed. His fundamentals need work. Penix is the guy I would draft ahead of CW and it aint even close. He is pro ready. Same with Nix. Nix isn't as fluid in his release but he can be a starter day 1 with the right team. The media has done CW a disservice with all the hype. They crowned the kid way 2 early. Against equal competition he just struggles. Not sure hes processing what he's seeing the right way. Penix seems much quicker in his reads . Gimme Penix.

Penix has a long injury history which likely doesnt get better in the NFL. His mechanics look somewhat iffy but he gets results so.....

Penix has a serious injury history and is not mobile. He will need to play for a team with a good OL.

Does his throwing motion look funky?
I've always had the perception that left-handed QBs have funky throwing motions even if they have an acceptable throwing motion. If they have a slight hitch or anything similar, it just makes it seem even more funky.
