Good QB, even better person...

But let's not act like he didn't choke 4 or 5x.

When he finally had it all together upstairs- his back failed him from a real run @ the Super Bowl. I feel if Tony was a touch more committed in the off-season to his conditioning: he could have had the career Brees did.
Four or fix times???? That's being kind.

I liked Romo. But the formula for consistent success under Romo wasn't there. There was too much reliance on Romo's escapability for the offense to put up meaningful points. Romo has a great highlight reel, but ultimately the reliance on escaping the pocket caught up to him with injuries. I also blame the coaching staffs he had for not being able to properly utilize his skillset.

It was fun while it lasted...but too many times, Romo put the team in bad positions with fumbles and interceptions, before making incredible plays to bring the team back in the 4th quarter. Exhilarating to watch, with awesome stat lines, but not the recipe for a deep playoff run, let alone a Superbowl.

Leave the poor man alone, hasn't Romo suffered enough?

If you think that the Cowboys are a bad organization, how can you be a fan? That doesn't make any sense.
Sure it makes sense. Let's say you were born in 1973 and born into being a Cowboys fan. Grew up being a Cowboys fan through the 80's and 90's. Jimmy leaves and Jerry takes full control. This once great organization is mess because of Jerry and family. This is me. I love the Star. Always but I hate what the Jones family has done for this team ever since the mid-90's.

He should be in the HOF for dragging some of those pathetic Garret teams to .500 seasons. Only a couple of quarterbacks at that time could have done that. Dak probably wouldn't have won 4 games with those teams

Or you can blame him for letting JG keep his job for so long lol

I don't know, but they have won more Super Bowls than about 30 teams
and there it is. thanks for making my point. When was the last time we won one of those SB's? Your comment is why the rest of the world makes fun of us as fans because you guys always creep around the corner and drop that as something to win a conversation when, in reality, it's something that everyone else will giggle at because we are irrelevant.

He played over 10 seasons. Of course there will be games where he choked or played like ****. Every QB has those type of games.

It sucks that he and others at times came up short in some playoff games but it's not like every playoff game he became an INT machine. Some of the losses was a team effort, similar to what has happened under the current QB.

I always love the underdog story, especially when it's an UDFA player rising to arguably a top 5-8 ranking at his peak at his position.

Are the 49ers irrelevant? When was the last time they won a Super Bowl?

Romo may be my favorite Cowboys QB. I grew up with Staubach, but I was a kid for a lot of his heyday and really don't remember much more than I see on NFL Films, which is awesome stuff, mind you. I liked the efficiency and accuracy of Aikman, but I can't say his personality ever did much for me. Romo just seemed like a guy who enjoyed playing football. He embodied the kid in all of us who just enjoys the game. He didn't get any hardware that we want our team and players to get. He wasn't the best to ever play the position (although he was better than a lot give him credit for being). He just seemed like an all-around good guy who was living his best life, whether it was dating singers, going to Cabo with his friends, wearing his hat backward, helping a couple on the side of the road change a tire, taking a homeless man to the movies ...

I think that's why so many fans (even beyond our team) enjoy/enjoyed him as an announcer. He's not polished, he doesn't have a perfect voice, he's just a guy who seems to be enjoying the game. I think that's also why he started getting some criticism as an announcer, because he didn't seem to be enjoying it as much. I enjoy hearing his knowledge of the game as well as his enthusiasm at times.
That's unfortunate that you never saw better. Roger had Tony Romo's "moxie", Troy Aikman's coolness/precision, Dak's leadership...all rolled into one. I appreciate that Romo got us to move on from Quincy, but I ALSO appreciate that "not ready for the burden was he". He was not fully confident in his abilities until about mid-way through 2012 - that's according to what HE said. So that means even during the 13-3 season - which I predicted collapse week-after-week with Wade Phillips leading us and the epic collapse that started after the GB game - Romo was ALONG FOR THE RIDE. Sorry, I've just seen better.

In short, I'm glad Romo helped push Quincy/Bledsoe/Testaverde, etc. out the door, but I'm also glad he got pushed out too.

I Didnt read all the comments....but you saying we shouldntbe fans unless we win a ship?

Or that it was all romos fault?

Not to argue....just clarity.

Not at all. I was just saying most NFL fans can't stand the Cowboys type fan that creeps around the water cooler and mentions how awesome we are because of how many SB's we've one. I love the Star just not the Jerry Jones version. That's all.

No one has ever defined what it means to be a “choker”. They just throw it around to disparage the guy. Having around twenty five come back victories in the 4th quarter and one of the highest QB ratings in it proves Romo is not a choker. But then there is just selective application of the label to him, as if no QB in the league hasn’t thrown a game losing pick and several of them that, even the greats. The suckier the team you have, the greater chance there is to choke. Likewise, the greater the competition. And that goes for every player on the team.

Interesting...I don't remember mentioning them. I'll wait while you dig up posts where I've mentioned them...
I guess that means that they are in your eyes since their last Super Bowl win was a year longer than the Cowboys.
