CFZ Thoughts/Opinions about yesterday's win!

I didn't want to make a separate thread on this, but I think Bones needs to adjust punt return coverage to get Turpin some better opportunities. I'd like to see two jammers on the outside. We have one of the best returners in the league and we aren't giving him a chance to help the team get better field position because we are going 1 v. 1 on the gunners and we are losing.

It’s never quite good enough for us Cowboys fans.

Does anyone realize that Carolina played Atl, NO, Seattle, Minn, Detroit, Miami, Houston, Indy, and Chicago.
Five of those teams have high powered offenses, and Atlanta was hot early on.

Dallas gave them the worst beat down of any team they’ve played. Fact. Even the bad teams actually use paid professionals.

Sometimes when you use 4 players to jam the outside guys, you get free runners right up the middle.

The Cowboys need the Eagles to lose two of the next three games which is possible to even get a chance. I think the Cowboys have to go 14-3 to win the East and that would be difficult. Just take it one game at a time and stay healthy.
Think they can only afford probably 1 loss and it needs to be outside the conference

Maybe I am giving the Eagles too much credit but they play the Giants twice and the Cardinals to end the season. Kansas City game will tell some of the story. I think San Francisco is the most talented team in football and Buffalo gets to play the Eagles on a short week.

I think that's a risk you have to take. Watching the Chiefs/Eagles game right now and KC has gotten 2 short fields using 4 jammers, including the last possession leading to a FG going into half. You have to give your playmakers an opportunity.

Remember that stat after the Cowboys lost to the 49ers, teams were like 0-20 after playing them and the Cowboys were the only team to win the following week, both the Seahawks/Eagles play the 49ers the prior week. Something interesting to see how this is real or not.

We need Buffalo this weekend.

So if they beat Washington and get to 8-3. Does that count as a good win?
Not really.

It's how we play against the big boys. If you want to win a super bowl, that is. It's great that we're beating the snot out of bad teams, but we need to start beating the good teams.

There were some very nice signs vs the Eagles, who we outplayed until that horrible last sequence on 1st and goal from the 6. That is what needs to be remedied.

Can't see that happening!
Well Allen is supposed to be the best quarterback in the league according to the board and talking heads, so I give them a chance. Plus the Eagles are not going to continue to get lucky breaks like dropped passes and phantom penalties.

Agree.
And I was being a bit sarcastic as well.

Well, if you have to pick at a 33-10 win, you can say it was against the worst team in the NFL so the result was expected. The only troubling part was that Dak continued to struggle against zone coverage. Carolina was able to take away just about the entire down field passing game. We had no big chunk plays. Red zone offense also got bogged down. One of Daks TD passes came on a drive aided by 2 personal foul penalties on 3 rd downs that kept the drive alive. We need to get better, bc nobody is going to give Dak man coverage down the stretch.
You’re a bit off on the Dak thing. This style of defense literally calls for the exact game Dak had. In the past, that 2 shell defense gave us fits and we could barely move the ball. It’s meant to keep everything short and force the offense to execute long drives without major errors.

He finally settled down and took what was given and didn’t force anything. Compare this to the Broncos game a few years back, he took a massive step forward.

What needs to be hammered out is the run game because this defensive style necessitates a good run game. It’s hard for any QB to beat that style of D without a run game.

As bad as the NFC is, Dallas is expected to make the playoffs...it's what happens in the playoffs that is the problem. Is it one and done all over again? or do they at least win one? They had their chance to make it easier on themselves, but as usual, they stunk it up again. We shall see how it goes.

The game against Carolina is what it is: it means nothing but the number in the W column. It gives us no feather in cap to beat a garbage team like that....but we did avoid a disaster.

You don't feel any better about your evaluation of the team after the game than before it, but you don't feel any worse either...andbthe W against them is as valuable in the W column as a W against KC

Washington will be like the 85 Bears compared to the last 2 Division 2 college teams we just faced
The Giants just beat the 85 Bears!

We better be able to beat the Skins at home after trading their 2 starting DE’s!!!!

Hmmm...yeah I forgot about that trade. Haven't seen them play since then.

That said....compared to Danny DeVito and whatever that 15 year old QB is for Carolina, Howard is Brett Favre.

At the very least...this will be an opponent with SOME nfl talent.

Their run defense is terrible, bad match up for them

And to get a good run game we need a starting quality RB.
