In a contract year, what would a Bland deal cost us?

IDK, but I would be trying to negotiate before the end of that deal to decide what I was going to do with him.

This is a special time for the team and this young man. Maybe he will break the record again before the year is out. Maybe two more times.

But he might not do it again for another two years. He’s a talented kid. But every player has a cap number that you shouldn’t exceed. Can DQ find another just like him in the 5th round and develop him like he did Bland?
 
That would be aged like a fine wine or cheese...
 
Dallas is going to have to back the brinks truck up to keep this team together. No different than Philly or SF.

Hopefully they can get some long term contracts done to alleviate the short term cap hits. I'll take a bad cap year 5 years from now if we can give this team a good run together.

The cap situation for next year is ugly. They are at the cap already with Gilmore, Pollard, Tyron and Armstrong leaving. The Dak restructure will help a lot but you still have to hand out extensions and sign your draft class.

You know how we play players for WHAT THEY'VE done and what we hope they will continue to do. His ceiling is high, he's going to ASK for a lot I think

Market value. It’s what all great players deserve and usually get. To me, there’s absolutely no mystery. Bland will command top of the market for a CB in 2 years unless he gets injured or his play drops off.

A few years ago Stephen Jones made one of the dumbest comments I’ve ever seen from him (and that’s saying a lot) He once said, “We don’t believe in setting the market for any player”. Right before the Cowboys overpaid for Zeke and established the RB market. They will most certainly establish the market when they sign Parsons to a big deal next year.

If your team is good enough to draft and develop a top NFL player at any position, you should absolutely be prepared to pay fair market value to keep that guy. That’s just the way it is.

Nobody should be surprised by what they say, soon as they say it, they end up doing the opposite! Pretty soon with this market value stuff, someone will make 100 million a year! I think each position should have a hard number that the top players should ask for. Ex- You're a Tyreek Hill, 30 million is the cap, because he's the cream of the crop, and maybe a slight few, everyone else can't come past that number

Why not? If you use this plan as revenue goes up year after year it’s just more money for the owners. I agree the contracts are ridiculous but I need a better plan than limiting the income of millionaires so you make billionaires more money.

No you do that so you can have more players on the team, they need to up the numbers of players on game day! Damn the owners making more money

I’m not completely against the idea of more expanded rosters, actually wish the league would do that, but adding a couple end of roster players to vet min deals doesn’t even come close to making up the jump in cap space every year
