Not so much a blueprint, it's been common knowledge, some teams just aren't capable or too impatient to follow thru. The defense, for large parts of the season, were protected by the offense and their ability to score points early so teams largely abandoned the run. When the offense can't score points early and often it exposes the defense's Man-Heavy schemes that's been built on speed to pass rush and stop the pass.
