This is true. The media would focus on the decision to not kick the extra point moreso than anything else that happened. They would twist it into stupid Cowboys instead of praising McCarthy for being tough.

Yeah, he kept repeating his stupidity, but it wasn't back to the 2, it was half the normal penalty distance. He had the chance to fix his mistake, but kept doing it anyway.

You are the head coach. You have two options after the two-point try was nullified by penalty:

1. Go with the lower odds by trying to convert the two-point try again
2. Go with the higher odds, kick the extra point, and allow your fully capable team to win in overtime

Campbell used extremely poor decision-making after-the-fact. Hopefully, McCarthy will take what Campbell could not accomplish to heart if faced with the same set of circumstance and available opportunity.
