24. Dallas Cowboys

Amarius Mims, OT, Georgia

Mims has even fewer college starts than Guyton, as he was limited to just eight over the past three seasons because of injuries and draft picks in front of him on the Bulldogs' depth chart. But when he did play, he made defenders look silly. Mims, 6-7 and 340, allowed zero sacks and just five total pressures across 372 career pass blocks. Will NFL teams be scared off by his limited experience, or will they draft him high based on his size and potential? I lean toward the latter, because he was that good when he got on the field.

To make room for Mims, the Cowboys could part ways with longtime left tackle Tyron Smith, who's a free agent, or have him compete with Terence Steele on the right side. He played right tackle in college but has the talent to play both sides.

I wouldn't be surprised by this pick one bit. This could be Tyron's farewell tour and Mims becomes the 2024 swing tackle, where we all know he probably gets a few starts to ease into his career from Tyron missing games. Honestly it might be the best situation for a guy like this instead of going to a team that will just throw him into the fire day 1 to sink or swim.
I know the idea of drafting a swing tackle round 1 isn't getting anyone excited about the upcoming year, but drafting late in the 1st sometimes you settle for the high end project.

Would love that dude but there's a couple teams in front of us that may be Center needy. Doubt he's there at 24.

Agree that OT could easily be the pick even with the return of Tyron and I for one would be slightly excited by that. Not wardrobe malfunction excited but your standard garden variety excited would apply. Mims scares me though. I'm more comfortable with Guyton or Morgan.

:muttley: :muttley: :muttley: Kiper is a bum. FantasyPros ranked Kiper's final mock draft 87th of 182 and Grading the Experts ranked his draft 32nd of 38. In 2023, Kiper correctly predicted only one of the 31 draftees in the first round despite updating his analysis on the morning of the NFL draft after gathering additional information.

He’s a huge guy. If you want to get big, he fits the bill.

Intrigued but moving from right to left tackle doesnt always go as planned. Particularly when making the jump from college to pro.
