The higher the salary cap goes up the larger the advantage is for teams that do not spend their money on magic beans.

You don't make this move unless you're planning on signing all the top free agents.
Well I know you're the king of sarcasm on these boards (if not cynicism ;) ) but they COULD go all in with this. Lets say they restructured Dak etc. AND signed the best available FAs or even made a couple of trades LA Rams style then I could see a strategy there for '24 and '25.

If all it is is restructuring those contracts and going into the season with 30 mill under cap or something I would just scratch my head. Then they would have just extended our path of suffering.

yeah, already choking on Zeke's and Collin's dead money and probably add Gallops dead money in June
6 million more for Tyron Smith. I guess it was worth it for all the super bowls we played in with all the hall of fame talent.

You've got it pegged. I can't wait until next week.

With the restructure of Martin salary these are the numbers.
Cap space counting all current contracts is $3,155,939.
Cap space counting top 51 contracts is $8,960,939.
The only number to know going into the March 13th new NFL is the top 51.

This restructure pushes $26 million into voided years when Martin may not even play for the Cowboys. This means they will almost certainly extend him after this year.

You're totally off. You extend Dak if you plan on signing free agents. You do this just to get under the cap.
He was doing a bit. Just assume that in most cases when he comments. He doesn’t mean half the things he says. They are for effect.

Extend Lamb only if they plan to resign Dak. No Dak, it would be senseless to extend Lamb, unless you're sold on Cooper Rush.

We should be under now. And we know the Cowboys aren't done. All their multi-year contract are built for restructuring now.

All those who kept saying all off season WE DON'T HAVE ANY SALARY CAP ROOM!!! well, here you go.
This is why I never get caught up in all of that. It always works itself out. Or, I say Stephen, as well as all the teams work it out.
They plan for this type of stuff.
