My observations will include a team leader role comparison now, between Kendricks and behind line of scrimmage influences by Parsons.

While what Kendricks does on the field will no doubt be beneficial (we hope), it will be what he can do for Dallas' young linebacking core of Overshown and Damone Clark by taking them under his wing could prove just as crucial. ... Not to mention Kendricks' ability to ease the transition for some in Zimmer's defense as he can aid with the new terminology.

cowboys have alot of draft needs and very little capital. The LB out of OSU may be a good pick Eichenberg. I think the first couple picks are going to be on the lines or RB so he may provide best LB value

Analysis: no football players and valued defensive coach.

One must have taken finding out Santa was a seasonal value, harshly as a kid and never recovered.

Oh, truth is still valuable...even if a pessimist has to be reminded. No, there is in fact quality in the group.

IF we are lucky and Overshown is what we hope
IF Kendricks still has something in the tank
Then our LB situation at the moment is not great but serviceable and might be good

Not yet a given there. He has talent, knowledge, and a career choice that will fall upon his own shoulders. I won't choose his value for him...all can't be just assumptions with careers. There has been a ton of non - team evaluations to include medical and direct team knowledge on this topic.

Did he email you his intents?
Ever since his injury last year with regards to his neck, he was advised continuing to play football was not a good idea if you want to have a normal life after football......He's retiring...

I love having Clark/Overshown on the roster, however I would still be targeting one more linebacker to add and really make this a strength of the team. If Micah is going to be a full time backer I would change my tune on that, but I'm very skeptical that's the case. Overshown was a 3rd round pick coming off a major injury, very tough to count on much going into 2024. Clark flashes some upside and has some physical attributes that are off the charts, but the game speed seems to be too quick for him at this point. I do think he's a solid coverage backer who you can still get on the field, I just dont want to count on him as a starter. I wouldnt completely rule out a LB being selected with the 2nd pick in the draft, maybe even 1st pick if we see a trade back scenario.

Interesting how some here could care less about his life after football as long as he can serve the Boys on the field

49ers are signing former Chargers LB Eric Kendricks to a one-year deal, per source. Kendricks was a Chargers captain last season, when he started 14 games and finished second on the team with 117 tackles.

Now, that is a very strong group here and now. It also allows for a drafted player to be added and make this positional group a very class act added with a strong defensive coach as well.
How does Overshown have 2 years of experience? He just started in the NFL last year. Wouldn't it be 1 year of experience?

-Kendrick is a 1yr bridge starter in my opinion, just gives them time to find his replacement.
-Overshown is expected to become a starter, but is coming off of acl injury, which we have seen takes time.
-Team is going to play more traditional, not 3 safeties, so either Parsons moves back to LB or they draft a starter this season.
-Clark in my opinion is nothing more then a depth linebacker.

Makes sense. A lot of attention will be on Overshown this year; how he does will be key to what they do next year at LB

ACLs take time. And Overshown will have had over 10 months when TC starts. That's plenty of time for a young athlete to recover. It is the guys with late season ACLs that usually come back slow the next year.

Clark was playing out of position. I'm more than ok with Kendricks because of what he brings. Even if stays just 2-3 years. The Cowboys still need another vet and add a draft pick. Not sure why anyone would call Parsons a LB either!
Yeah Kendricks is a good piece. We need pieces like that to fill holes and be solid contributors. But he can't be your top end guy, and right now he kind of is.

Dallas will cut him if he doesn't retire.
They are just letting him take his time.
It would be one of those TC type retirements with a press conference and fanfare.

I think, for some reason, they're counting this next season. I noticed that with LVE as well. It says he has 7 years experience. Dallas drafted him in 2018.

Why OP trying to trick folks into thinking the LB is strong with that won'tbe playing LB?

LVE will retire
Parsons plays DE
Kendricks is older and finishing up his career.
Clark probably should focus on STs.
Overshown hasn't even started his career.
Sounds like they about two more legit LBs.
