Mayfield showed a lot more potential for the team that drafted him than Pickett and Lance showed for the teams that drafted them. It only took 2 seasons for SF and Pittsburgh to realize they made a mistake.

Except if he got to Free Agency they have to outbid other teams for his services. By trading for him they get two years of control and a cheap salary

Look at what other back-ups are getting paid and Pickett is a bargain.

Even though Wilson is declining, he is still much better than Pickett. He never had a chance to even compete for the job.

Pickett has never been developed. He was just drafted in the first round in 2022. He'll be groomed for the Eagles backup, and eventually I'm guessing he'll be traded if he develops into a decent NFL starting quarterback. The only chance he has starting for the Eagles is if Hurts got a catastrophic injury. Philly needed a backup I heard they were tinkering with the idea of getting the guy in Chicago, but the asking price was probably too high.

I don't think it's as toxic as we want to believe. Once the fans like you, you are with them forever. Guys like Kelce, Cox, Graham, Johnson, will play their entire careers there. How many notable athletes stay with one team for more than ten years these days? Now...if the fans DON'T like you, lolol! Picket seems like the type of player that would get castrated by the fan base if even half of the whining crap coming out of Pittsburgh is true. Their sports radio will grind him into chum.
