My take is that if you have that kind of situation develop, you draft the player who has fallen big-time, and then just intend to trade whatever veteran is in front of him on the depth chart, now or as soon as reasonable, for a pick this year or next... or alternatively, for another veteran making less money who fills whatever void you'd otherwise thought you were going to fill with your first round pick.
