Need to see Trey Lance this preseason

Lance will get an opportunity to beat out Cooper Rush this summer. He’ll get his shot a backup. That will give him an opportunity to play in the regular season if Dak gets injured.

Not about how good he is. Its about seeing what he is. And Rush isnt' good enough to keep a guy who was just the 2nd overall pick in the draft a few years ago. HE has a far higher ceiling than Rush.

He’s such a wildcard and has so much potential. Give the man a chance to show us his abilities in the preseason and give this man some game reps. I still have faith this man is our QB of the future but we need to stop being stubborn and we need to give the man a fair shot !!

He's only under contract for this year. If he plays well in pre-season, does that mean we essentially give him a big raise to be the starter in 2025?

Lance is just another player that will likely dash the hopes and dreams of a lot of fans. Rarely has there been a QB go bust for their first team and panned out somewhere else. If Dak re-signs Lance’s days will be numbered.

I asked this question on whether or not some are confident enough in Trey Lance that they would be willing to sacrifice drafting a QB in the first round over the next few years, in order for Lance to get the starting job for 2 or 3 seasons. Since some have stated that they still believe that Lance can be capable reaching and playing like what we have seen the upper echelon first round QBs play like. Because even if they don't think he can be Mahomes. some seem to believe that he can reach the potential of a Burrow or Allen.

Because if it's a question about Dak's replacement then I wonder if same fans who thinks he is a real first round talent, would be okay with Jerry and Stephen deciding to forgo drafting a QB in the first round due to sharing that belief and hope that they already have a high first round talented QB in Lance. There are certain scanarios which would reveal who the true believers in Trey Lance are. And who is only advocating for him out of an "Anyone but Dak" agenda.

One of those scenarios would be the front office giving Lance the starting job and forgoing drafting a QB for the next few seasons because they believe Lance is their guy. No doubts there some of the same fans who are currently advocating for him would turn on him, if there was a chance for the front office to draft some of the best available QB prospects and yet they didn't because they listened to those who wanted to give Trey Lance some lengthy amount of time to prove that he could be the Cowboys next franchise QB.

Dak doesn’t play in pre season.

Lance will probably start at least 2 of the games. They may give Rush a start too so it’s a fair competition for the backup job.

But yeah Lance will get a lot of snaps.
