Hypothetically Dak gets injured and the backup is hot!

Does he get his job back right away?? Or do we continue to ride the hot hand, this sounds so familiar!! Please give your thoughts

I'm far more concerned about his contract status and his future/non-future with the Cowboys.

Jerry will be glad he didn’t one to a contract beyond the 2024 season and regret not signing the other to one.

in this scenario they would continue to ride the hot hand.

IMO

Let’s put it this way. If Dak got hurt and missed a bunch of games. Lance comes in, plays well and wins a bunch of games. Then it would be silly to not let him continue to play to further see what he can be.

Honestly the cowboys entire approach to this offseason only makes sense if they plan on moving on from Dak after this season.

I have honestly been fine with their approach to this offseason, anticipating they plan to move into another era so to speak and work to find another QB.

If they actually plan on keeping Dak. Then the offseason has been a disgusting mess.

Without a new contract Dak won’t get hurt. Why??? Because he’s not gonna play without a new one. Neither will Ceedee.

And they shouldn’t.
See Earl Thomas and his last play in Seattle. That play changed the NFL

If Dak gets extended prior to the season he’ll be back in the lineup no matter how hot Lance or Rush is. If Lance is the hot backup and puts together at least 2-3 impressive performances we could trade him for more than what we gave up to get him. That would greatly improve his trade value. If Dak isn’t extended by the regular season and Lance replaced him due to injury and gets hot, he’ll remain in the lineup even when Dak is ready to return. Dak would then be free to walk in free agency.

I would call Dak’s bluff. Cowboys aren’t winning a Super Bowl regardless this season. If he sits out, the cowboys get a better draft pick next year.

Honestly the smartest thing for the cowboys to do was to trade Dak. Just take all the cap hit now. Get it over with and get some draft capital out of it.

The last sentence sticks firmly in my mind I could see this happening I swear

So you think Dak holds out for a new contract? As much as I'd love to see that so we could give Lance a shot, I don't think he'd eat the 2 million in training camp fines and then the lost game checks.

Think Leveon Bell did that and it didn't really work out.
