I'm hoping that additional exposure of what this team has to offer with Malik Davis in the games ahead will be a pleasant surprise. He seemed to have a knack for getting good yardage, despite tight run coverage last year. It was a reliable thing for him to display on most of the occasions that I saw.

We literally screamed that Pollard had to go because he wasn't effective enough and the run game wasn't good enough and now we have fans saying, "Hey, this isn't bad, I think Elliott can get to 4.0 ypc and that's tolerable............"
"we"?

You are mixing up your arguments or not remembering properly. "SOME" expected Tony to perform as RB1 LEAD horse. Even though he'd never done it before. Most agree he didn't.

Zeke might get that designation by default...not by expectations. He was signed to shore it up not lead the league.

And star is right....the real screaming was/should be to fix this oline and scheme. NONE of our RB's have been particularly impressive the last few years. Why is that?

It needs fixed no matter who carries.

WE had different expectations for tony plus contract concerns.

Dont hurt yourself reaching.
It's not a reach at all.

It's reality. One of the bigger complaints coming out of the 2023 season was that the running game was just not good enough. That the OL had to be fixed and that they needed more out of their RBs. It was a two part solution. No, we didn't need to go sign Jacobs for a bazillion bucks but we probably needed to do better than what we did. But we knew Pollard wasn't good enough for the role asked to play.

To try to now sell Elliott as a viable option to fix part 2 of that equation is laughable but expected from some here, and especially, the Cowboys.

Elliott, Dowdle, Vaughn is basically Hurns, Thompson, Gallup, Austin and Beasley all over again. The Cowboys aren't going RB by committee led by Elliott because they think it will work. They are doing it because they are cheap. Just like in 2018.

I understand people are upset, I'm disgusted too but he can protect the passer, he's good for short yardage and a he's locker room leader.

That part he makes us better not worse, he's not going to be a 20 touch starter.

Rico is underrated. I think he’ll surprise with his first 1000 yard season but I think Zeke probably gets 150ish carries.

We have finally figured it out.

“I think the running back position, in this day and age, is not that old school, one guy as the lead back and the others fill in,” said McClay. “It’s by committee. And what he adds to the group, we’re excited about. As well as the other pieces [that we’ve added] to it.”

This move baffles me to no end. I loved Zeke back during his first few seasons but the time has passed him by. He’s acceptable at best and I think signing him actually makes us a worse team. This gives us no advantage and he doesn’t have any upside. He wasn’t that good for us two years ago and now he’s even older and slower.

This was an abysmal move. Guarantee you Dak tossed an idea for management to sign his former friend or something.
You have a different agenda than management. Fat Zeke checks a lot of Jerry boxes. That is what matters.

We are better in the RB department with zeke so the OP is frankly a joke; clearly more of an anti zeke rant than anything of substance

I am not a huge zeke fan by any stretch here but saying bringing him back makes us worse I just cant buy. Maybe not beineg more proactive and selecting a younger back with fresher legs in the draft makes us worse but i guarantee you from day 1 Zeke comes in here he is the best back on this roster currently.

If the OL lives up to their potential 4.0 YPC is not out of the question maybe more as long as they dont run him into the ground. It has to be RBBC
Good stuff.

There’s a lot of #ZekeHate on here.

Reasoning won’t work.

Yes.

we all know Zeke isn’t the same RB from 2016.

Just too much #ZekeHate on here for no reason.

Zeke is a good teammate and locker-room guy. He's a good example to follow in terms of training and remaining available.

But as a RB? What kind of morons ignore the RB position for 2+ years?

Don't think they are done adding to the RB room.

June 1st cuts and more cap room is coming.

Zeke's mere presence on the roster makes us weaker because he's washed up and has been for years. Plus, he's a classic progress stopper. Any UDFA RB would be a better investment for those carries. Zeke has no upside at all. RBs don't get better with age. They never have.
One again it's proven that if you want a good back they have to be 1st or 2nd rounders. This idea that you can get a good udfa or late round back to be a good back is lat out wing. Stop with this myth. Sure there are a few anomalies but that's it.

I think you have every right to be concerned that the cowboys didnt select a RB for the second year in a row. Weapons matter!! I dont believe that WR by committee is the same thing as RBBC I think thats a poor analogy. The only way i can get behind that is Jerry was stupid in both cases. WR spread the field, Get separation, make the defense gameplan a particular way

Not all RBs are created equal i agree but i think we can succeed with RBBC, even though Id rather have a Bijan Robinson or Jaymair Gibbs. I dont think we can get by with WR's that cant run routes or get separation or has the dropsies but thas just me.

Am i devaluing the RB position probably. I think well be ok with RBBC if the line gels and creaes holes

The same ones that trade for a QB, without discussing it with anyone first.
