He's not good on short yardage and he's not a battering ram. At this point in their careers, Luepke is a better RB, and he's not even a RB.

Zeke simply isn't quick enough to the hole anymore. Honestly, IMO he never fully recovered from Covid. It hit him hard, and he was never the same afterward. He completely lost the juice in his step.

I think his value at this point is purely as a pass blocker. If we were still good at short yardage, NE would've resigned him.

Let’s see how that goes. If this team isn’t playing well out of the gate and Elliott is mostly watching, let’s see if he doesn’t play his direct line to Jerry.

It’s a problem waiting to happen and wasn’t worth the trouble. They could have signed another veteran back, but I suppose that player wouldn’t have been as marketable, and wasn’t someone Jerry wants to be buddies with.

Breaking long runs was never Zeke's strength. Wearing down and punishing defenses was his strength.

Zeke 11 carries for 16 yards, 1.5ypc 5 1stD
Pollard 14 carries for 56 yards, 4.0ypc 11 1stD

Zeke didn't get a single carry on 4th down. Tells you what they thought of him as a short yardage back.
