Probably the best historical mini I have watched since Band of BrothersNot a Western, but I thought the Hatfields and McCoys miniseries w/ Costner, Paxton, Powers Booth and others was well done.
Its kind of funny how his westerns do very well, and his post apocalyptics bomb horribly. Although I really enjoyed WaterworldLooking forward to this.
Dances with Wolves and Open Range were great westerns.
I think westerns are mainly a relic of the past. I can’t think of any recently that did well financially. Of course, there have been lots of bombs this year out of Hollywood across different genres.Bombed Bigly this opening weekend. May try to catch it this week.
a well made western would I think bring in the money. But how many movies of today are well made in any genre?I think westerns are mainly a relic of the past. Sad that he ditched Yellowstone for a turd.Saw it today, it was maybe a 2/10 Very Bad. 3hrs and the last 10 minutes were the best the movie had to offer. Maybe he was setting it up for Part 2 in August. Very very bad surprisingly enough, Definitely no Yellowstone.
Costner seems to have a pattern of success - followed by ego and hubris - followed by huge failure - followed by a career revival.Sad that he ditched Yellowstone for a turd.
