I give Dan Rogers credit. He tries to explain why the Cowboys FO operates the way they do and does a decent job.

There is a method to the madness of the Cowboys penny-pinching ways.

As we come down to another contract deadline, the Dallas Cowboys continue to find themselves in another financial standoff with a star player. It’s become such a common thing for this organization and it’s been all anyone’s talking about over the summer. This is the way the front office works. It’s beyond frustrating for fans and it’s a never-ending supply of storylines for the media. This is the Cowboys' way.

The difficult thing to understand about all this is why the front office chooses to operate in this manner.

For years, the Joneses have sat in their suite and watched helplessly as another high-expectation season comes crashing to a halt. They have no control over how the players perform in those games or how the coaches coach. All they can do is provide the best possible roster. And while many disagree with their approach, the front office continues to look for an edge, and like it or not, this remains the Cowboys' way.

The team has gotten away with getting great deals before from players like Zack Martin, DeMarcus Lawrence, and Tyron Smith (twice), but they can’t keep doing that forever. Sometimes you have to pay a player what they’re actually worth.

They probably do deserve some credit here. Jerry has a reputation of overpaying….but they are right. They typically sign guys under market value more times than not. Didn’t realize it to the writer mentioned it .

Lowest player salary spent over the last ten years? Did I read that wrong somewhere?

That’s a great article.

Overall, the Cowboys are set up to have just enough consistency in their play to win vs. the teams in the east, but not enough to win the games in the playoffs vs. teams that are better, with stronger rosters. Being winners in the regular season and losers in the playoffs is typically their fate. Jerry and Stephen are quite satisfied with having teams that are consistently winning, without spending what it takes to be playoff winners. That way, the money keeps rolling in consistently enough to ensure profitable seasons for their team's brand to shine with minimal expenditures. It's strictly business.

Yeah, you set the example of how to not think when you make comments like this while ignoring 28 years of futility.
no, not at all...being accountable for leadership in a fully demand able and physical team sport requires management skills in gamble. The whole end results call upon management of fragile elements as soft tissue injuries and game time momentum changers set in luck of turn-overs. Jerry and his team has at least been fully committed to presenting the highest level of potential set to enter upon the carpet for each and every game and season. Gambling on the best team to trot out onto the field for each and every season.

That I as a fan can at least thank Jerry and his always developing team.

The practice squad is the current gambling zone for short termed veterans and with logical team improving talents that have effect here and now. The structure for cap gambling is setting up here and now.

That is smart gambling here and now and with a lot of skill evaluation in the current youth and talent with an eye for sustainment and full talent brought to better productions. That inclusive of being able now to readjust cap for a period of stability moving from consecutive 12 win seasons.

Good article.

Year one in a larger and stronger defensive line.

There is nothing in that article that implies they are trying to cheat the system to get over the hump. I wasted my time reading it. All it says is that the Cowboys lowball players. A few million here or there is not cheating the system. It's not making a difference. It's clickbait.

The irony of this post is alarming. ‘Critical thinking’ is vital. Believing everything is fine all the time is quite naive
Quick to time on the carpet this year includes:

Defensive line:

DE Carl Lawson
DT Denzel Daxon (International Player Program)
DT Phil Hoskins

Linebackers:

LB Darius Harris
LB Brock Mogenson
LB Nick Vigil

This is a big picture for defensive change; for strength in direction; and for gamble of costs for changes.

You don't use fundamental elements for change beyond crying and talking down all being done. Yea, go figure, alright? So you have it of no use...now tell us then with your asking for nothing but change, is this the changing of an era and all for nothing but saying good bye to Prescott with your crying and only a picture of a guillotine?

How are they trying to beat the system when some of these deals are top contracts? Zeke's old deal, lamb's etc etc etc
