Because they have no idea how to negotiate football contracts. They get taken to the cleaners every time.

Agents know they will eventually fold and give in (at least to guys they drafted). But they will never pay the going rate for free agents

Largely irrelevant. No team is going to agree to take on Dak's annual $40 million+ salary, maybe in the final year, if Dak were playing well and Dallas agreed to pay part of it. His guaranteed $ is the bad part, meaning they can't realistically do anything til after 2026, and even then it's painful.

because Jerry is an idiot....he waited until an hour before the first game of the season to finish the contract...he likes drama and he is getting drama

Yep, next year daks cap hit will be 30% of the cap. Jerry will get a new coach then everyone will get excited. They might play a bit better, but in the end the results will be the same. It's kinda funny. Jerry got suckered. He thought he bought a supercar and he ended up with a broken down VW.

It’s pretty standard in star players contract. They don’t want you to trade them to a trash team. That’s not the biggest obstacle in trading Dak anyway. He can waive that but the one year ahead guarantee is a bigger issue. Basically the season after you cut him he’s guaranteed
