OL is one area where I admittedly don't know much about. Even to someone like me though, it's evident that they are playing very poorly, despite having quite a bit of talent and pedigree.

Why is Solari here? What is his 'style'? Why does he suck? Why have we stuck with him etc.

Thanks

I wish I could answer those questions. All I can say is that our o-line has regressed in a major way!! To me, I think a lot of it is "scheme", but then again, I'm not an o-line coach, so I may not know what the heck I'm talking about. LOL

Personally I think its very difficult to evaluate OL coaches. We have had two successful although older OL coaches in Philbin and Solari the last few years and had pretty much the same results. At some point I think you have to look at the talent level on the OL. Steele isnt and never has been great in pass protection, yet we are slinging the ball 40-55+ times per game. Zach Martin is clearly in regression, and we have two rookies this year. People can talk about how poor the scheme is, but unless they talk specifics about why the scheme is no good its hard for me to take those arguments serious.

For me this OL has major issues in pass protection on the edges, although Guyton has shown improvement the last few games. They also have significant struggles with blocking zone runs. This is probably the biggest weakness in Cooper Beebes game, but playing Center you're going to be expected to make those second level blocks. Guyton is a monster on those gap runs, but seems to struggle moving in zone concepts.

Is coaching to blame? Maybe, but I think this OL has some significant flaws that are tough to overcome, especially given that the Cowboys dont have great talent at the skill positions either to keep defenses more honest in how they play our offense.

To me its the same endless argument we have year after year about the coaching staff. Fans are drawn to the idea of overhauling the coaches because its easier and quicker to do than to rebuild your roster, but ultimately the majority of NFL coaches are going to succeed when given talent and fail when that talent simply isnt up to par.

I heard he muddles the cherry when making an Old Fashioned!!! ew!

Hard to buy that when Beebe is playing better than Biadasz did.
No knock on Cooper Beebe, I think he turns into a pro bowl player, but this year I would have much rather had Biadasz. Honestly I'm hoping that they look at moving Beebe back to Guard if Martin does indeed retire as expected.

yeah this is pretty much where i am, and why i hoped maybe someone had nuts and bolts details and eval. but probably not. i just don't think i'd ever heard a ringing endorsement of solari, or his units rankings. why it's easier to pin on him. but i also am not able to evaluate ol whatsoever, other than, superficially good or bad. and maybe i'm overrating the talent which is also definitely possible. and maybe it's as simple as a 'natural' position shuffle to cure some of what ails them. needs to get figured out though, and i just have a hard time believing a unit boasting a two first rd picks and a third rd (steal) in the past two drafts can naturally be THIS terrible. but yes, having a quality rb would probably help matters tremendously as well. it's such a chicken and egg things that i really hope gets sorted out. because man, it really sucks to have such a strength become the biggest liability while also pouring such resources in.

He has came in and developed the young guys for the most part well. His scheme is what people don’t like. He his hard to judge imo

Don't worry, he'll be promoted to offensive coordinator next season
