Will we be able to afford to keep Turpin?

Do we give Rico another year?

Do we save anything cutting Mazi?
What about Steele?

Will they bring back Tank, Martin, Lewis?

Do we rebuild the safety corps?

Was Kendrick’s one year only?

What’s the real salary cap issues? Can they realistically afford to bring in anyone other than bargain basement guys? (I don’t want your opinion if they will) can they?

Give them all the MAX amount and extend them all!!!
Mazi should be given a 4 year deal for 160 million while he's still a bargain!
COWBOYS!!!!

Jerry Jones made the mistake of putting every player on notice that they can hold out and Jerry will fold.

A tradition has been established now in which the 1st round pick can hold out with a year or more still left on his rookie contract.

Both Tyler Smith and Micah Parsons have that potential to hold out.

If the Cowboys are to get on the right track then Jerry has to be willing to put his foot down and take the heat from every corner. He has to set a new expectation.

For those whose contracts are up at the end of the season, he needs to be willing to pay only for their expected productivity and not past performances or popularity. This is the area where the GM must be ruthless.

The short answer is NO (in 2025). Reasoning being:

- we've got $25-$29m to spend, puts us bottom 1/3rd (its not the CAP figure that's the only problem, its the fact that there are so much more money over the two years and can give two contracts that we cant match).
- that's not including Dead Money, if we dont extend Tank ($8M), Zack (over $20), Cooks ($4m)
- Too many holes to fill, needing basic improvement at (DT, DE, CB, RB,WR) just to fill out the roster
- yes we'll restructure Dak, but it's like paying for necessities on your credit card..... a couple of
FA's arent making us play-off winners,

Dont look to 2026 either, We've only got $71m, but have the next issue of extending Tyler (LT money), Micah ($40m per) Bland, Tolbert, Ferguson, Sam, Clark, Donovan......ok, we wont retain all, but it'll still leave holes.

Yes, Jerry will restructure Dak's money, BUT, look at the 2025 issue: Tank, Zack, Cooks and Dak (existing) $40m. The 12-5 years were built on restructured money that needs addressing, but Jerry's in a bind because Dak probably wont get another contract and needs paying in full in '28, or '29.

So it's bargain basement for a couple of years at least (even trading down in the draft for numbers) ......and hope on CeeDee, Dak, Micah, Tyler to raise their games to the value of their contracts, which will need to be dramatic as we dont seem flush with talent.

I'm not very optimistic on the cap situation for the next couple of years at least. People have said time and time again the Cowboys can create up to $100M or even a little more for 2025, but I see a few issues if they do....

1) The more cuts you make it creates additional positions of need. Steele for example is a very realistic cut candidate, however the $9M or so you save in cutting him doesn't buy you even a league average RT in free agency. Last year Jonah Williams who is probably the closest comp for Steele from last years FA class (injury history, up and down play, mid 20s) got $15m per year.

2) Restructures move cap hits into future years, which the Cowboys really dont have, especially for 2026. Right now they project to have about $95M depending on what exactly the cap is that year. That $95M is likely to go down very fast as we likely have extensions, 5th year options, and/or franchise tags for Parsons, Bland, Smith, Ferg, and Overshown.

Right now they go into 2025 just barely under the projected cap number. They will easily create some space, but bringing back just a few of their pending FAs (DLaw, OSA, Golston, Turpin, etc) is likely to wipe that out. I would assume another year of mostly skipping free agency and walking away with a couple of Erik Kendricks types, although I could see them doing slightly more than they did a year ago.

Alll depends on if they restructure Dak.
If they are still 100% behind him short and long term, they'll restructure and free up~37 mil.

Let’s wait and see what they do at HC before all of this

Turpin is a returner and maybe a number 3 receiver at best. He shouldn't be too costly to retain.

Sure, why not? He's capable if nothing else and likely won't command big money. I'm not sure if he's already under contract or not.

No reason to cut Mazi. He's on a rookie deal. He's not as terrible as you think he is.

Steele...makes things difficult. His play hasn't risen to what it was pre-injury. You can shuffle the line. Cut him, move Guyton to the right side, and either insert Richards at LT or slide Smith over. Over keep him and hope he gets better.

Tank wants to keep playing. Martin is done. Lewis maybe. I'm not about their contracts but if they are all off contract I'm not sure there would be interest in resigning any of them. We have a lot of young depth at CB. Tank will want a lot more than he is probably worth.

We have to rebuild the safety position. I've been saying for awhile we have the worst safeties tandem in the league. Something, anything, needs to be done there.

Can they bring in some high-priced guys? Of course. Will they? Who knows. It would likely require some restructuring of certain contracts which they will likely do regardless.
