Since 2000, the Cowboys have only picked in top 10 a total of 5 times. Here's who they took:

1. Roy Williams
2. Terrance Newman
3. Tyron Smith
4. Morris Claiborne (trade)
5. Zeke Elliott

ONE HOF player, and three of the other four made multiple Pro Bowls.
Terrance Newman I think was a starter for various teams until he was near 40
Roy Williams was a Pro Bowl SS as long as he had an excellent FS beside him (and before they changed the rules)
Zeke was arguably the best or close to the best RB in the NFL early in his career
Claiborne was the only clanger
so actually our record is pretty good
BUT we also did not pick any QBs so automatically your average hit rate goes up

At pick 9, I like Ashton Jeanty or Kenneth Grant. I'm also warming up to J. T. Tuimoloau edge from Ohio State.

we might not get that high a pick. I think with the lack of QBs in this draft all three of those players will be gone by the time we pick. Hunter is probably gone like pick #3

Grant and JT are huge reaches at 9, IMO. The other Michigan DT (Graham) is the one at that spot if available. But like I said in my opinion and you could end up being correct.

I have Graham going before pick 9. If he was available I would probably take him.

Safety, Corner, Tackle, Corner, Runningback

The lineman is the only one who you’d 100% do it again with hindsight 6 years after you drafted him. Thats not a coincidence; people saying draft Hunter or Jeanty with the O and D line problems you have is insanity. There so little value there

Our lines just beat a winning team on the road. 1st pick should be bpa.

8 teams with worst record then Dallas after Sunday however three more are 4-7 identical to Dallas . Worst case scenario Dallas at 12 right now. Still a DT worth taking should be on the board .

Terrence Newman was a very good player for a very long time. Looking at Pro Football Reference's attempt at a WAR formula, he was the 10th best player in the 2003 draft class by total career value. Tough to call that a bad pick.

Roy Williams is an odd case. Probably overrated in his day when he was a household name, but underrated now because people forget what a terror he was. He did fall off quickly. IMO, his broken collarbone is what really started slowing him down.

I could see Hunter going 1 or 2 depending on how teams eval Ward and Sanders

I think he came in at an awkward period too where the game became so much more pass focused. 2003 that type of player was still valued. Buy 2007, not so much

Dallas wasted a 1st and 2nd on claiborne unfortunately. Wouldn't even have been worth a 3rd round pick.
