Tank vs Culture

Giants ownership and management is way smarter than Cowboys. They know tanking helps them better in the upcoming draft and long run. Too bad this ownership is too dumb to realize that. It's all about winning as many games as possible to keep the fans interested/entertained in order to keep making sales. Those wanting wins even though this team is not making the playoffs are only contributing to the 30 year old mess of how Jerry manages this mess of an organization. Congrats. Don't complain.
The Giants do seem motivated to get that first pick in the draft.

This!!! ^^^

Too bad many let their pride get in the way. They should have had that pride to begin this season when they were playing so sloppy and started the season 3 - 7, pretty much guaranteeing they were not making the postseason. Too late to try to win out to save face and for pride after this point.
It’s not pride. It’s a form of cheating and I don’t want anything. That’s tainted. You win on Merritt. Tanking is a form of entitlement.

Cheating? No, it's not. It's being smart enough to use the system to your team's advantage.

How is tanking a for of entitlement? Control your feelings and think wisely. This team lacks very good talent badly, plus draft picks. Best way to solve that is by losing out and securing a top 10 draft pick in every round.

Either you are contenders, middling, or you suck.

Teams that contend will draft between 25 to 32. We ain't that.

Middling teams draft from 15 to 25. We not even this right now.

Teams that suck, draft from 1 to 14. Here is where we are and where we should stay.

Cowboys draft extremely well. We should suck enough to give Will McClay, er um, Jerry as many premium picks as possible.

I'm prideful as well, but I'm team tank. Especially without Dak, who are we beating if we eek into the playoffs? Exactly.

Get our injured players healthy (Tank, Zach Martin, etc.). Get as high of draft picks as possible. Then run it back next season.

PS - I wouldn't pay Parsons either. Trade him for more premium draft capital.

{insert Cowboys tank image here}

Yes, but I don't want the players quitting during the game at the same time.
You don't tank w/ the players. You tank by trading away valuable players for future picks. Those future picks are what can make you into a super bowl contender.

Rusty, I've told you this before. Why do so many fans have such an erroneous view of tanking?

If the 2020 team lost one more game than they did, there’s a very good chance they end up with JC Horn instead of Micah Parsons.

I don't believe in outright tanking, but I would have started to play younger guys like Lance, Liufau, Mukuamu, Vaugn, Mingo, Brooks, Edoga, etc. quite a bit more.

Throw them into the fire and lets see what they can do out there. They get reps and if we lose so be it. The "culture" of the team is going to change with the new head coach and so are quite a few players this offseason. Not really sure what they are building for if it isn't 2025 and beyond.

The Giants moved on from Danny Dimes and are starting DeVito over Luck to help ensure they get a top 3 pick and it is hard to blame them.

I want us trading players away. Why do you think I made several threads about what I think would be best for the team? As far as this thread goes, I'm simply talking about the players.

If he did that today, he would’ve lost draft choices. The commission of would’ve screwed him. Yes it’s cheating. You can make yourself believe it’s not, but it is.

That's one way of tanking.

Tanking has nothing to do w/ the players. Never has. If you're only talking about players, that's not tanking.

Right, that's my point. My point with what I was saying was to do with the players. Not tanking. When I was saying I don't want a team that quits, I'm referring to the players.

The problem here is one that Jerry Jones created by making the entire coaching staff lame ducks.

Every single coach here is still trying to win to help their resume', be it here or elsewhere. They aren't tanking. The coaches aren't worried about developing young talent because they might not be here in 2025. They are trying to win NOW, to salvage their NFL futures.

This is why we aren't seeing Trey Lance. This is why Zeke is still getting snaps while younger backs sit inactive. This is why they activated Chuma Edoga (?) off IR instead of giving a tackle like Matt Waletzko meaningful playing time. They are going with who they know.

So unless Big Mike gets fired before season's end, there will be no tanking. The Cowboys will still lose games because, well, they aren't very good. But they won't be trying to lose.
