This team hasn’t quit on the coach, period. I don’t like the guy and I think he should be finished in Dallas, but it’s interesting to watch. How they play and from body language tells me they still want to play for the guy. We might not like McCarthy and maybe Jerry is done with him, but it’s interesting to see the players not want to give up on him. If he somehow turns this ship around this season I wonder if he’s back in 2025. The players are still fighting.

They are trying to win out.

Are they playing for him or their own pride? And don't forget how awful the competition was on Thursday.
Watch them stack some wins together. They should get better every week as they get more players back. Diggs, Kneeland, and Lawrence may play against the Bengals.

The players don’t care who the freak the coach is, this is a bidness… most are on one year contracts and are trying to keep their job. Parsons, Dowdell, Rush etc all are on the bubble. Playing for your HC in the NFL is highly overrated.

Don't take "hope" away from a man.

I think the players like playing for McCarthy. And that McCarthy enjoys coaching them. And if they're going to go out, it's going to be in blaze of...whatever. This team had an opportunity to quit, and didn't.

Remembering wade phillips, players quit
But many rumors of JGarret blowing the embers of it

They’re playing for themselves and that shouldn’t be shocking to anyone.

These guys have to be competitive as hell to even be in the NFL. They play for pride, contracts, egos, legacies, bragging rights, and a whole list of other personal reasons unique to each player.

Big Mike really has no more emotional influence over the players than a mannequin from the Bigger & Taller section of your local department store. In some circumstances, game outcomes may have been more favorable for the Cowboys if said mannequin was holding the Waffle House menu and wearing the headset in place of MM.

A lot of.the entitled players and been sitting games out lately and it shows.

They played for Campo too. Doesn't mean Campo didn't suck.

The players play for Coach Jerry. Period.

The young guys like Hoffman and Rico are playing for a second contract. Business, nothing more nothing less. Doubt McCarthy factors into the equation.

As always, it's hard to judge head coaches in Dallas with the owner/GM actively undermining and sometimes sabotaging everything. Too many variables involved and the same with player effort. These guys have different motivations and some of them are mailing it in at times. Somewhat understandable with a lame duck coach and a dumpster fire roster.

We beat Washington during their 3 game slump. Then horse stomped the Giants that have officially tanked for the rest of the year.

Everyone outside of Dallas says Mike is a good coach. So this isn’t surprising at all. The talent has been depleted from injury and FA, and they’re still competing. Nobody will ever convince me that these guys are just playing and the HC has zero to do with it.
I like Mike, and I’m cool if they keep him. I’d definitely like to make some changes in OC, Oline Coach and maybe DC, but I could see Mike returning especially if they finish strong and we see some good progress from the younger players. You can’t ignore it.
