Lions are a good template how the Cowboys should build their offense

-Goff-yes, 1st overall pick, but many believe he is more of a 10 QB (Dak)
-Sewell, Ragnow, Decker-1st rd selections along their OL (Tyler Smith, Guyton)
-2 speed playmakers taken in the 1st rd at RB/WR (Gibbs, Williams) This is where we all say the Cowboys need the most help
-Quality low cost, bell cow type of back. These always can be found every fa year.
-Have a legitimate #1 receiver in Brown (Lamb)
-Real good young, TE in LaPorta (Ferguson)
-Modern offensive scheme

-Needs

-Another high-end offensive line starter, perhaps at Center
-2 explosive weapons at RB/WR.
-Quality veteran bell cow type of runner
-New Modern OC.

I wish we had Gibbs,a player like that will elevate our offense .the number one thing missing in this offense is speed and yet we dont use Turpin enough.

The Lions draft strategy is to short-list all the high-character guys who play really hard, then draft the best kneecap biter available. It's literally Dan Campbell flavored BPA. Detroit don't care about positional value and they don't care about consensus boards (which get trashed, but usually end up being pretty accurate).

They culture draft for a culture coach, but it's actually led to a disproportionate amount of hits. One takeaway that we could learn from them, is that they simply refuse to gamble on players with off-field issues. Those guys have blown up on us much more often than they've turned into steals.

Williams has his share of issues, but I agree the rest are high character players.

I agree with the explosive, speed RB, and they had that with Pollard and the offense was humming.

I don’t agree with drafting another 1st round OL because of the money allocated on offense.

Turpin is the speed element at WR, but if they could replace Cooks with a bigger speed WR that would be ideal.

All things considered, money, draft picks, and in-house guys I think they can play decent next season with just: 2 drafted RBs (thunder n lighting), and a FA WR (Darius Slayton). There are some really good veteran "Thunder" or RB1 type options, tho..Najee, Chubb, JaVonte W., J.K., A.J. and Foreman. There's no excuse to not have a good 1-2 punch at RB next season.

I agree, fix the running back room and add a veteran #2 receiver. The following year is where we will have a better idea what is needed up front.

lol. the lions draft strategy is to have 4 first round picks the past two years.

Get your DT in the first
2nd round Emeka Egbuka
3rd round Dylan Sampson

We have a long way to go to get to the Lions level offensively especially if we don’t use free agency like the Lions did for their offensive line. They paid for Decker and a guard. They also spent two years of draft capital acquired through trades to get their skill players. Most importantly Goff was a player dump by the Rams. You could say the Lions got really lucky.

Totally agree
Character and work ethic are ingrained by the time you finish college

Yes Rams trade made this all possible

We'll see about Terrion Arnold, but they've hit on everyone else. Having lot of early picks is only half the picture... ask Jon Gruden about that.
yeah they've had huge (recent) success in the draft. but again having so many early picks the past couple of years, 6 in the first 2 rounds? is a massive advantage. isn't guaranteed to work obviously like your gruden example, but is a huge huge leg up. what they and the eagles have done the past couple of years is just difficult to emulate and i don't base it primarily off of evaluation. could be wrong though

Your right, Eagles also had the benefit of the Wentz trade and added more picks by trading down.

Cowboys do already have some pieces in place, but they just aren't talented as the top teams on offense at this time.

right. the wentz trade is the gift that keeps giving (really the bradford trade initially if we're really getting into the weeds) they're already talent laden, and active in talent acquisition and then you give them multiple first rounders for a couple years to boot? sheesh.

That's how they landed Carter, who should of been a top 5 selection, if not higher.

The Lions had the fortune of having a ton of early picks recently and they aren’t afraid to spend money.

They’ve done pretty darn well
in the draft though.

what you are missing is the Lions traded away Stafford, who was the BEST player ( at the time) to generate multiple picks to get more players.
Dallas loses draft picks with trades that have not panned out

Lions have a good OC.

Cowboys have a terrible OC.

Until that gets fixed, your just moving around the deck chairs on the Titanic.
