Lions are a good template how the Cowboys should build their offense

-Goff-yes, 1st overall pick, but many believe he is more of a 10 QB (Dak)
-Sewell, Ragnow, Decker-1st rd selections along their OL (Tyler Smith, Guyton)
-2 speed playmakers taken in the 1st rd at RB/WR (Gibbs, Williams) This is where we all say the Cowboys need the most help
-Quality low cost, bell cow type of back. These always can be found every fa year.
-Have a legitimate #1 receiver in Brown (Lamb)
-Real good young, TE in LaPorta (Ferguson)
-Modern offensive scheme

-Needs

-Another high-end offensive line starter, perhaps at Center
-2 explosive weapons at RB/WR.
-Quality veteran bell cow type of runner
-New Modern OC.

Goff is similar to Dak but Goff has a better supporting cast and better coaching.
- Swap Dak and Goff at the beginning of 2024. Lions would still be a dynamic offense and Cowboys would still struggle.

The Lions have 2 top tier RBs.

Their 2nd WR has 710 yards on 63 targets with 4 TDs.
- i.e. They basically have 2 #1 WRs and 2 #1 RBs.

CeeDee has 880 yards on 124 targets and 4 TDs.

Until that gets fixed, your just moving around the deck chairs on the Titanic.

I agree, talent and coaching vastly greater with the Lions. Not only do they need to overhaul the rb room, they need to add another alpha type of receiver and probably 1 more lineman along with hiring the right oc and ol coach

Good lord Goff is a thousand times better than Dak. And he's still improving unlike Dak who is cratering and injured.

The Rams traded Goff plus two 1st round and one 3rd round pick for Stafford AND gave Stafford a 160M contract extension.

At the time of that trade (2021) none of the NFL media considered Goff to be better than Dak.

Dak was 13-3 as a rookie.
- OL and run game were dominant.
- Zeke was great that season.
- Tyron, Martin & Frederick in their prime.

Dak, Goff and Purdy win when their run game, defense and pass blocking are very good. They tend to struggle otherwise.

Brady won with no-name RBs and often patched up OLines.

Mahomes has won with no-name WRs and patched up OLines.

QBs like Goff, Dak and Purdy win if most other areas of the team are functioning at an above average level. They are better than Trent Dilfer bus-driver level but can't carry a team like Mahomes.

I never said Goff was great. The bar is MUCH lower than great to be better than present day Dak.
