Is two years enough time to develop a QB to be our starter?

Looking at over the cap if you go to cut Dak post June 1st, we actually save 40 million in 2026, by that time if we're smart enough to draft a decent QB to take over this team, is it enough time to get him ready?

Well duh COOG it all depends on the coaching around him, and how much he wants to be the new starter. I get that, but will this team value looking for a good replacement, or will they sell us with the next 4th round stud or UDFA that will be the next great thing! Please give your thoughts

Why do you do that? The Cowboys aren't cutting Dak. They like him.

There is no reason to go through all the mental gymnastics.

Jerry loves doubling down on bad decisions, so I doubt he gives up on Dak until the wheels are so far off even he can't deny it anymore.

He'd never do with Dak what Denver did with Russell Wilson because that would mean admitting he was wrong.

Dallas has had 0 success with trash 4th round QBs. Draft top tier 1st round elite talent and stop wasting the rest of the players careers.

They might need to put that on a fast track..... #4 is starting to become injury prone and might not finish out the contract

This is a different NFL, you no longer have time to sit on the bench and learn. You drafted in the first round you’re expected to play. That’s what the salary cap has done. That’s what happened to Trey Lance. He was ruined before he even got a chance. They almost did it to Jordan love

Is it even worth mentioning cutting Dak this year. In no universe would they do that. Also do you realize how much dead cap cutting Prescott creates

Depends on the QB. I am a fan of always be drafting a guy you think you can develop.

developing a QB sounds nice in theory but how often has it EVER WORKED?

The VAST majority of starting QBs that have gotten second contracts (its not a perfect way to measure but better than most) come from the first rd.

Jethro got incredibly lucky with Romo and Dak and things he can to it with Trance

The only two QBs that have won SBs with the Cowboys were Roger Staubach, who WOULD have been a first rd pick if he had not had his Navy Committment; and Troy Aikman the #1 pick in that draft

BUT Jethro only wants to keep in the news and keep the money flowing so he sees NO REASON to use a high pick on a QB

if you spend a high round pick on a QB, then by year 3 they should start and if they have shown anything and if you have a QB you like on the roster, then trade should be an option.

but the question is will Jerry spend a high round pick on a QB?

or will he continue to run the cowboys like a soap opera drama

More than just coaching, he has to be put in a system that fits his skills.

Romo could still play at a high level until his body broke down. I see something similar with Dak. He takes some monster hits because he is no longer mobile.

Joe Burrow was a excellent QB within 2 years as was Mahomes. Right coaching and the right talent makes a difference. Remember because of the transfer portal you are having some QBs who have played 40 or 50 games in college.
