Jason Garrett's last 4 years in Dallas:
41-26 with a 1-2 playoff record

Mike McCarthy last 4 years in Dallas: (depending the final game vs Commanders)
44-27 with a 1-3 playoff record

Side Note: The player that cost the Cowboys vs Bengals was given 3 days worth of hugs
Jimmy Johnson would have cut the player

That is one example why THE CULTURE is poor. No accountability.

Jimmy didn't cut Leon Lett for costing a game so I would draw any conclusions by that basics..

The "Jimmy cut someone to send a message" example always seems to ignore the importance of the player.

It was also a time without a salary cap so cutting players back then rarely had any impacts except money and back then it was less of an issue in most cases.

These days, if a team cuts a player for a blown play in a game, several other teams will line up to sign them if that player improves their roster.

Good comparison although IMO McCarthy is significantly better.

So…the one common denominator for our results is Jerry and his chubby son. Hmmm….maybe THEY are the problem no matter who the head coach is.

Jerry was reluctant to let go of JG, so what would be different about Mike? Personally, I'm thinking Mike will bolt, and Jerry will drag his feet thinking he can leave Mike waiting until he makes up his mind.

Maybe bring JG in to build the roster, and let MM do the actual coaching?

I disagree . Wasn’t it Leon Lett who played in the snow in the end zone Thanksgiving vs Miami cost Dallas the game . Jimmy didn’t cut him . The players you cut if you want to send a message are on the “asthma field “ they aren’t trying or they aren’t cutting it .

Lett obviously had too much talent to cut he had a sure TD knocked from his hands in the SB against Buffalo …lots of expertise

Garrett: 13-3, 9-7, 10-6, 8-8. His starting QB played every game during those four years.

McCarthy: 12-5, 12-5, 12-5, 7-10. His starting QB missed 13 games.

When Garrett had to coach with a backup QB, he went 4-12.

Right. I've written before about the example that Jimmy made of Curvin Richards. His reason had to do with fumbles. This is great read about it: https://www.espn.com/espn/page2/story?page=pearlman/080918

Leon Lett was too good to “ cut “ over blunders . To his credit I’ve liked Amani O at DB this year much more then either Booth or Carson regardless of his blunder costing the Cowboys the Bengals game .

Curvin Richards was very expendable .

I had plenty of savants tell me that Garrett was the one holding this perpetual all-star roster back,,, now I guess it's McCarthy.

You can’t compare the two..

McCarthy is a legit NFL coach.

Garrett was in over his head and should’ve never had the job.

Mcarthy isn’t holding this team back.

Someone needs to be held accountable though.

He’s been here a good amount of time and has had no playoff success.

IMO the correct choice was keeping McCarthy and getting a new QB but they went with Dak.

Yup, doesn’t really matter who the next HC is now. The die is cast for the next few seasons.
