He wants someone he has experience with and trusts, or a grizzled steady veteran coach. He doesnt hire anyone else.

Experience with:
  • Jimmy (college roommates and teammate)
  • Switzer (his old college coach)
  • Campo (former DC)
  • Garrett (former player)
Grizzled steady veteran coach:
  • Parcells
  • McCarthy
  • Wade
The ONLY time he ever departed from this strategy and went with the hot new assistant coach on a winning team that he had no history with was Chan Gailey. It was also the shortest head coaching stint in Cowboys history.

So you can put away the Shanahan tree, the latest greatest SB assistant coach, and probably the veteran coach too since Jerry just tried it again and Belichick is off the market now. The Deion talk is for real. Kellen Moore is a safe bet especially since Jethro just tied himself up with Dak and CeeDee’s contracts. And if Zimmer wasn’t so burned out, he would probably have a shot too. My money would be on a familiar face.

It would be a complete disaster.
Honestly hard to say. He has his merits and detractions. Team manager and not a tacticion so he needs a really good staff. Not someone that would be a puppet, so you would probably get more push back on things than with Garrett and McCarthy.

It would be interesting how it plays out. In the short term, if he got quality OC and DC we would probably get back to to 2021-23 levels.

Quite frankly, those that want the team to tank might want to root for Sanders. Just watch Rome burn.

After a few years of it, the team would have a lot of top draft picks and open capspace for the next coach to rebuild with. The next few years are toast anyways due to Dak's contract. Might as well make the most of it.

You can't diaster without a "D."
Kellen should consider the Jaguars, if he wants to be a HC.

Well, Garret was a hot young assistant too in Miami when Jerry brought him home to be the heir apparent to Wade.

The betting favorite is Dieon Sanders but he's going to cost a lot more money than Kellen Moore.

Kellen Moore is the easy money. Anyone else will be a suprise.

I will say I think Deion is a better choice than guys Jones would likely hire like Moore or a Ron Rivera just because he would be a bit of a wild card. Most of the guys Jones would hire would be similar type coaches to McCarthy, but down grades. You are probably looking at a 10 win ceiling over thr next couple years. Deion would be a definite shake up
