Both # 1’s with Becton drafted much higher . A bust by any measure with the Jets he gets to the Eagles playing under the top OL coach in the NFL he’s moved inside to guard and the dude fits right in with that unit.

Guyton doesn’t necessarily have a sack problem at Tackle he seems to have an NFL referee has your number problem . From OTA’s Mini camps training camp it’s 9 months until the opener .

How about moving Guyton inside with Smith and Beebe that’s a nice between the tackles unit for the running game not to mention interior protection . Move Asim Richards to LT see exactly what he looks like as a starter . Takes LT pressure off Guyton.

I'd like to see if Steele can be the RT he was supposed to be. If not, maybe put Guyton at RT and give him a chance to win the job. I'd hate to start training camp needing to sort out both tackle positions.

Becton was a bust in part because he couldn't stay healthy. Not only is he now getting the best coaching, he gets to play in between Lane Johnson and Cam Jurgens. He's probably in a much better mental state too, being off the horrible Jets. Guyton won't have that luxury. I understand your reasoning, and if I know Steele will be a solid RT I'd try it, but I think the situations are a bit different.

I hear you . If you moved Guyton to guard he could be a road grader a powerful interior force Becton has become . I understand what you mean about both tackles then being unsettled .

Asim Richards as a 5th rounder at Tackle can
turn out to be a great pick . Brock Hoffman is big enough has a nasty attitude let him take over RT . I want Dallas to field the best 5 .

Why not just continue developing our left tackle, including giving him an off season in a pro weight training program?

Richards full-time at LT makes me more nervous than Guyton but it's worth a look in practice. Best 5 should always be out there - contracts be damned. What that comes down is whether Richards is better than Steele. I'd like to know too.

I’m not at all opposed to that at all . I liked the Guyton pick . I thought the line looked worst down the stretch when your number one pick is on the bench instead of playing .

I think the Cowboys have to get better at RT so insert Asim Richards as one T . The refs seem to have Guyton on speed dial at T maybe going inside at G he’s a straight forward blocking road grader Mekhi Becton has become .

Bekton has been a career bust, struggled with weight issues and injuries. Has the body that's built to be a guard rather than a tackle even though he's extremely tall his girth is what makes him a guard. He got into the right system and he's doing well. He reminds me of Leonard Davis

He’s got the best OL coach in football . Becton and Guyton both massive sized Guyton was battling some injuries rookie year . G is a more straight forward proposition get to the second level maul the defense . I see Guyton on an island at LT and I’m not convinced this is where your # 1 pick can be the most help.

Some guys just don't have the athleticism or length to play outside, Guyton does. His biggest challenge is he has to get much stronger and play with greater leverage. I thought he was decent in pass protection last year, but run blocking was very suspect. If you watch the tape he needs to play lower, which is why I don't think guard would be a good fit for his skill set at this point. He's not going to win consistently against players that are strong that play lower than him and that's usually a dts game in generating penetration.

I would leave him at LT or consider RT. Cowboys should still add more insurance at swing tackle, preferably a veteran.

Leonard Davis was the measuring stick when he played .

How about moving Guyton
All the speculation about moving Guyton started at the draft. What people need to realize is that Jerry drafted him to replace Tyron. He isn't moving inside, to the right side or anywhere. What Guyton needs is a full off season to work on his body and learn the NFL game. He needs all the OTA's and mini camps and training camp. He needs reps in preseason. Then let's see what September brings. My guess we see a much better version than what we saw down the stretch.

That’s a great point about leverage . As tall as Guyton is he would have to have steady coaching and repetitions to play lower at G . I see Becton inside and it’s like why didn’t the Jets move him inside and if nothing else it wouldn’t hurt to see Guyton in camp try G .

Cowboys drafted a college left tackle in the 7th round (Nathan Thomas) who was a road grader at Louisiana and he likely will be a RG in the nfl but could play RT.

Guyton went 1st round because he has LT feet. That's where he will play.

Why did MM bench him down the stretch ? The line looked worst when he wasn’t playing .

Would like to see Thomas on the field this season , camp. The OL in general is young and going in the right direction .

Well one Becton is 365 lbs lol. Guyton is 322 lbs. Guyton just has to clean up some technique issues and getting bigger/stronger. I would like to see him get to 335-350lbs if his frame will allow, which it should since he is like 6'8.

Becton is 6’7 Guyton 6’8” so I know with reps and good coaching the Cowboys # 1 pick could make the transition . With diet & weights he could get up to 330 easily . The Cowboys are in no position to have # 1 picks not thrive and excel .

With MM & Solari something was off . Hopefully Guyton becomes a dominating force with the changes that are coming .

100%, always worth experimenting and finding ways to get the best players on the field. I still think Tyler Smith is the best LT on the roster right now, but that's a totally different discussion, lol.
