Is DT out of consideration in rd 1 if Osa does get resigned?

I have not once said numbers are everything…but a part of the evaluation.

And from watching from your recliner do you think you have insight into the kids heart, determination or instinct? Have you ever heard anyone say 1 bad word about Osa?

Like what are we doing here.
There have been lots of JAGs who were good guys; worked their butts off; and no one had a bad thing to say about them. OSA is not a JAG at all, but he is also not worth what we will probably have to pay to keep him. I do not blame the guy at all for going for as much as he can get; I just do not want the boys to be paying it.

Osa will never be any better than pretty good at best in any scheme. We should not pay through the nose to re-sign him. He is replaceable. It is mind-numbing that this is even a consideration.
amen

Shouldn't be. We need a 1 tech as well.

Fact is, almost no position should be out of consideration. Trade down should be the move unless one of the top half dozen prospects falls to us.

And that’s perfectly fine if you don’t want the team to give him a big contract.

His play has earned it though and every metric out there for DTs agrees with my eyeball test. You always overpay in FA…that’s how it works. We have the chance at first dibs on a position that is arguably our biggest weakness so I’d prefer not to pass that up and downgrade the position heading into next year.

Unfortunately, I do believe that DT would be off the board if Osa is re-signed.

If Harmon, Nolen, or Walker are graded highly by Will McClay and the scouts plus are BPA when on the clock...pull the trigger!

Resigning Osa and landing someone like Grant or Williams in the 2nd would be awesome for our DT room.

We need multiple DTs. Even if we sign Osa it certainly wouldn't rule it out for me.

Personally, I'd let him walk if he won't take a reasonable deal for an above average starter. He's likely to be over priced on a scant DT market in FA.
That's you. There is no chance they will re-sign Osa and then use their 1st round pick on another DT. It is not happening. They don't think that way. A 2nd contract for Osa makes them think they are set there.

yeah, no doubt of that. This team since Jethro has called the shots has never valued DT all that much. Resign Osa and have Mazi and the brain trust (sic) thinks we are fine.

Good point.......I'm not saying Kinlaw will be our top DT but good depth if we can't sign Osa and have to use a high draft pick for his replacement
t. The good thing there is you save $18-20M, especially for a player with limitation as a run defender. In other words, even if Osa resigns and again starts alongside Mazi....who's your run defender? We just invested $18-20M and have the same run defense issues from our interior DTs.
He’s always played 1tech next to Armstead in SF and Quinnen NY. He could probably function as that tweener I just doubt they’re ready to give up on Smith yet and he’s probably going to want more than what they’re willing to drop on a back up… hell, they won’t drop anything on the starters for some inexplicable reason!

Early reports are saying Cowboys are making it a priority to resign Osa to a long-term extension. He is an ideal fit for our new up the field scheme. Same goes for DLaw who also is a fa, where he status is more unknown.

If Osa is resigned, is taking a 1st rd DT off the table for the Cowboys?

The way they think, I believe it is, unless Graham somehow falls in their lap. With a new offensive HC, I think that will be the direction they will want to address.
I agree with you. If they sign Osa I think DT is off the table in the first round. The Cowboys simply do not place a lot of value on the position. I don't care who the DC is, he will have to yield to Jerry's thinking. But if it were me, I would consider drafting 2 DTS early.

Steve Serby a sold football writer at the NY Post has Kenneth Grant to Dallas at 12 . I don’t see many complaints about that .

Other highlights . Banks the OT at Texas going to SF .

K McMillian best receiver in the draft to the Jets so with Adams and Garrett Wilson that’s a killer trio at WR I guess for Aaron Rodgers to go out into retirement yr one more shot .

Primes. son Shadeur to the Giants a team with no QB and last ….

Ashton Jeanty to the Saints to push 30 yr old Kamara , Wouid Kellen Moore should be Saints coach draft a RB round one ?

Absolutely not
Sign OSa and still give me DT at 12 or 44

I really doubt he is worth what his agent wants. Stats do not tell the whole story; they never do. I have not seen ANYONE that thinks Osa is all that.
You’re probably right when hes by himself
Pair him with a Grant and it might be a lot different

Osa had a pretty good year if you take in to account the injuries along the DL. With Micah and D Law missing significant time, his pressure rating should not be understated. Nonetheless, I still think drafting a DL is never a bad idea, and he's not the only one up for sale this offseason.

some GM is going to throw a lot of money at him and I hope we are not dumb enough to compete
