Trade Down for Future Picks?

Although I'm perfectly fine with staying at 12 because there will be decent talent available, the more I look at this class I think there's a decent chance the few blue chip guys don't get close to us, especially with an overall lack of QBs to push them down.

A lot of the focus is on a short trade down when that discussion is brought up to gain another mid rounder, but I wonder if there's someone that could entice a late first round team to give up a 2026 first for a longer move back. Hopefully a team that thinks they're on the cusp but maybe is vulnerable to a massive backslide due to an aging or injury prone QB (basically us last year).

I love guys like Walter Nolen, Mike Green and Ashton Jeanty that I expect we would miss out on, but the next tier of players isn't too far off and is quite deep. Grant (although I could see him in the teens), Egbuka, Golden, Burden, Ward, Warren, Booker, Hampton would be some of my targets. I think somewhere between the Steelers at 21 and the Rams at 26 is the sweet spot, teams looking to get over the hump but have some warts.

Would you be willing to make a move back for future picks? 2026 looks like a solid draft, but the grass is always greener this time of year when everyone is potential. Where would you target moving back to and who for?

Agreed that we're not going to get a true blue-chip guy at #12. I think there's about 3 real blue-chip studs in this class (Hunter/Carter/Johnson), 3 or 4 guys who are knocking on that door (Graham/Tet/Jeanty, maybe Warren?), and 1 viable QB (Ward). After that, it's just a bunch of dudes with "normal" 1st round grades.

I wouldn't mind trading back at all this year if we can get an offer, because I think we're going to end up with a similar talent anywhere in the teens. Say for grins that you are sitting there at #12, and Nolan, Grant, Green, Jeanty, Warren, and Egbuka are all on the board. Is there any guy on that list that stands out above the rest?

Yeah that's my general thinking as well. I have Egbuka probably in a tier below those guys and Jeanty as a player above, but positional value evens him out. To get big time assets though I think this tier of players would be gone too, but then again someone always slides and the nice thing about having needs everywhere is you don't really care what position.

I think you are going to need QB prospect for a team to move up high enough to give up a 2026 pick. For a 1st, it has the be equivalent to a 2025 2nd value wise. For a 2026 2nd, it has to equivalent to 2025 3rd. Since its just a risk, teams only do that if you are talking cornerstone. At 12 that would only really be a QB.

It is very possible though. Milroe or Dart could be guys going in that range

It would be a hard choice to not just go with him, but I could see a team falling in love with Tet McMillan if he was there at 12, and WR is another position we've seen these types of trades occur with.

If Tet is there, you sprint to the podium ams turn the card in yourself. He won't be though

My name is Coog-mod-trade-down-iguy03!!!!! I love any thought of trading down in the 1st round to get more picks especially getting a 4th since we dont' have one in that round

if they trade down it should be for this years picks. And they can't move far, 3-5 spots or make two small moves down and that could net them a few quality picks in the top 100.

The difference between drafting at 12 and 20 doesn't seem to be much different to me unless a blue-chip player falls out of the top 10.

I would love to see them trade back and pick up another 3rd or 4th round pick.

I honestly do not see a single true think he cannot miss prospect in this whole draft.
Not even a really think he probably cannot miss.
there are between three to six guys that are worth a top ten pick.
After that, I would say a bunch that are worth around a 20 pick, probably.
I really wish we had gotten a top ten pick like seven or eight but it is what it is.
The lack of QBs is blatant; when nearly sure fire busts like Milroe are even considered in the top 15 it is bad.
NOW that could mean some desperate GM's reach to the moon for Dart and Milroe. We can hope for that. Sanders and Ward will go pretty quick as they are pretty much the only real QBs in this draft. IF all four go fairly early, we might get someone worth staying at 12. Otherwise we trade down is my advice; maybe one of the dumb GMs after someone will oblige us.
Now no way are we going to be able to sodomize anyone like Jimmy did to the Vikings, but we could get some picks that will help.
