Signing a Free Agent Starting Receiver Will Free Up the Draft

With the rumors of McMillan dropping in the draft I wouldn't be surprised if the Cowboys see what happens there before making any FA moves at WR.

Sign, Will Hernandez, Keenan Allen, Poona Ford and Jack Sanborn.

Draft BPA

I’d still bring in a vet like Keenan Allen

Lamb, Tet and Allen is nice

My suggested strategy at this point is to sign a healthy #2 WR as a free agent, to spare us the need to draft one in rounds 1 and 2, whose slots must be used to draft a bell cow RB and a strong DT who can dominate at the point of attack. If targeting a RB in 2nd round, then trade down in 1st round and pick up an extra 3 and draft the best DT not from Michigan (Mason Graham will be long gone).

If Willie Hernandez a free agent guard wants to play in the big D, sign him, so that the two #3's can be used for a LB and a CB.

The free agent who makes the most sense and will be an immediate impact is MLB Nick Bolton of KC. The Boys need to open up their pocket books and get creative, as the fans are severely restless and have lost their confidence in the Cowboys' abilities in putting together a team to challenge for the big cup.
Okay, who?

I think the Cowboys are going to wait until Cooper Kupp is released. Then attempt to out bid teams for his services.
The Cowboys aren't going to do anything in free agency. Remember, they traded a 4th for Johnathan Mingo and think that they already have the needed WR's in the room.

Yes, it is good to fill holes in free agency before the draft. Ideally not having any big holes before the draft is a good approach. but the Cowboys have so many questions going into this offseason I don't see how they answer them all.

I think they should draft whichever player improves them the most in the first round. I do think a few WRs would be a big help for the offense, but we are really depending on some players on the OL to improve a lot over last year. It is good to hear Guyton is in the weight room every day, but he has to take that onto the field and put whatever physical improvements he makes to good use. Otherwise, no RB or WR is going to help as much as we think. Dak needs protection more than ever now because he can't run.

At the same time, do the Cowboys want to go into the season with yet another rookie starting on the OL after what they saw last year? Maybe the free agent they sign will be an OT. Still, if they draft a guy like Membou to replace Martin, that might be something significant. Or do they take an OT? Like I said, so many questions to answer.

yes, FA RB, LB, and WR are all needed and will free up BPA in general.

all 3 are needed

Sans McMillan this doesn't look like a strong top end WR class so finding your wr2 in free agency makes total sense. That wouldn't preclude me from drafting McMillan if he is there, but eliminates reaching for a WR earlier.

Elijah Moore is a guy I'd take a look at. He's a slot only and has never put up big #s, but he's played with some rancid QBs on some really bad teams. He's only 24 and was known for his speed, route running, and ability to get open at Miss.

You don’t lose anything but money to sign Kupp and Adams. Both are probably on the Cowboys radar.

i really like this strategy.

I would like to Sign Hernandez at G, he's Nasty and can run block for days. At WR, id like to give Turpin some more time at Slot to get that speed on the field but realisitcally we need a solid #2 so i'd go after Tyler locket (familiar with HC and could be a solid #2 now), also if one of the younger guys steps up we are not out of much with Locket. I doubt we go after a Teir 2 or higher LB so i think your looking for someone older that knows former DCordinators defense, someone like Darrell Taylor or Jack Sanborn of CHI.

We need to go after a insurance CB if diggs does not come back until end of season just not sure who

There are two types of FA WRs. Guys like Davante Adams and Cooper Kupp who will command big money. Your not signing these guys for less than 15 mil a season.
Than you have guys like Lockett who is going to want 8 mil a season. I would rather see Dallas bring in Bolton the KC LB
And roll with who they have at WR. Than they can draft a RB and LB with thier first and second pick either order.
