Signing a Free Agent Starting Receiver Will Free Up the Draft

He knows how to win ........ put someone good at making football decisions in charge ...... and get out of the way ......... that is what happened with Jimmy Johnson ........ Jerry was busy making the business side profitable again ...... then when he did that he wanted to get credit for being a football mind ...... which he never will be.

He is a narcissistic business man who truly believes he is a good football guy.
He’s a billionaire. Dude has an ego.

Hiring Big Mike was a tactical mistake.

Cost us.

If jeanty is there at 12…. I don’t care who they need … take jeanty!!! He will automatically make the Oline better
Hey, who needs an elite runner. We can just pass on one and get another Julius Jones. We don't need one to win Superbowls.

I'd kick the tires on Allen.

Big target, nice catch radius. He's old for sure and slowing down but I think if you want to go WR in FA/trade they aren't going after a guy like Kupp or Metcalf, Allen is one of the better options.

His size and length might mix well with a QB like Dak.

Lamb, Allen, Turpin is a decent Top 3 and then you can still draft a WR, even early, if an opportunity presents itself. But more importantly, with the needs we have, it also frees you up to not force yourself to take a WR early and use those picks on a DL or RB.

This is what the Jones' simply don't understand.
I’d be interested only if he came in on a favorable (to the team) contract. I’d still look to draft a WR talent early. Allen would be a great locker room guy and leader in the WR room.

He’s lucky to be out of Carolina.

Train wreck.

Whenever I see teams give up on a high draft pick early (ex. Kelvin Joseph), it really makes me think the player has a character issue (defiant, lazy, et cetera) or is just dumb, as in not being able to pick up the offense or making too many repeated mistakes on the field.

Mingo has 4.45 speed and built like a horse.

2nd round pick. 2nd team All SEC.

Turp is faster.
LOL.

Mingo has been in the league for two years and done squat. Just because he played in the SEC and runs fast for his size guarantees he can play. Thus far in his career, he's shown very little. Hence why Carolina dropped him for a later round pick.

You are in lala land if you think Lamb, Mingo and Turpin is a legit WR rotation. Shoot, Tolbert might be better than Mingo at this point.

Definitey has to be favorable. I have no interest in some long term, big money-ish deal for Allen.

LOL. He had 43 catches for like 400 yards and no TDs as a rookie. Hardly the stuff of legends here. Further, he was worse last year even here in Dallas. He's a total project at this point. And as CalPoly pointed out, it raises a red flag that a team was willing to parachute out on him taking minimal return after making him a Top 40 pick just a season and a half earlier.

And I have zero problem taking a flier on him like we did. But he's a project and an unknown at this point in his career and better suited to be our 3rd or 4th WR before we can actually count on him being a guy who can take pressure off of Lamb.

Why does that analysis bother you so much? Saying we are set at WR because we have Mingo as our #2 is just strange at this point. You must be a big SEC/Ole Miss fan.
