Josh Allen's nugget on Dak's $60M contract

I don’t believe that. I believe if Allen hit the open market a team would’ve offered him whatever. Teams right now are fighting for Justin Fields and Sam Darnold….Bills are fortunate he didn’t take them to town and make them earn their check.
You don't believe what? he & Dak were still both under contract. it's a fair comparison. salary cap is known for next year, why couldn't he have easily eclipsed Dak's AAV?

Fields is a very questionable signing but it's basically a $20M deal, not even in the ball park.

Darnold is very possibly underpaid. He had a very good season last year. Yes, he needs to show he can do it again, etc., but $33M for a guy who got 14 wins is below market value especially if he proves it wasn't a fluke.

49ers are playing hardball w Purdy. Think whatever you want of him but he's been in two NFCCG & probably would have been in a SB if not for getting injured. If I were him, I would feel a little insulted at $45M offer. Especially since he's been playing for peanuts.

Pretty clear to me that teams are trying to bring the QB pay scale down not up.

It has absolutely nothing to do with Jerry. Thr market was set before Jerry when Tua, Love and Lawrence got record break deals. 2nd and 3rd tier qbs.
I guess it depends how a particular ownership group sees it. Purdy is only 16 months younger than Jalen Hurts. Purdy has played on a team with great talent. He has not accomplished what Hurts has. Hurts is the 10th highest paid NFL QB in average annual value. Perhaps the 49ers offer Purdy a deal near Hurts’ deal, but not equal to it. The “market” is now re-set.

Dallas, Miami, Houston, and Jacksonville notwithstanding, the new high watermark for NFL QB compensation is $50 million, not $60 million. Purdy is paid more than he ever dreamed he would. 49ers get to work rebuilding.

I can’t explain it to you if you can’t see it in his game or lack there of. He always folds under pressure. I’ll ask you since no one else on here seems to be able to answer and I’ve ask several times, how many games in 9 years has Dak brought us back to win when being down 10 points at any point in the game?
I never trust someone who speaks in certainties. There’s absolutely no way you can say that if Dallas wouldn’t have invested in more defensive talent during Dak’s rookie year, that they 100% wouldn’t have had a chance at a SB. You’re just being intellectually dishonest.

Dak had to stay strong for the good of the brotherhood.

You’re missing my point. I said teams are fighting for Darnold and Fields. A one year wonder and a never was. That’s how hungry teams are for quarterbacks. So yes if Allen hit the market he would’ve got whatever he asked for. Teams are hungry and don’t like this draft for quarterbacks.

It’s not obvious lol. You don’t have an example other than Allen. Let’s see what Purdy gets or Stroud. Alllen admitted he took less. Not offered less.

Hurts was the highest paid QB in the league when he signed. And did it after one good year.

I’m not saying Purdy won’t take less. He may. But Greenlaw, Deebo and Hargraves are gone for a reason.

I can speak with 100% certainty that NO team with Dak under center would not only not win a SB but would never make a run at a SB. Put Dak on any team that’s gotten to a SB during Dak’s career and they don’t get there. Anyone who can’t see this by watching his play on the field, doesn’t know what they’re seeing when they watch him play. He has way too many limitations with the biggest being HIS intellectual deficiencies. His other biggest problem is he always chokes under pressure. I remember being hammered on this board when I pointed out why he’d never be a championship caliber QB caliber in this league when he was first drafted. Man have times changed. LOTS see it now. In terms of mental makeup to be successful in this league, Dak is slow.

Purdy will sign for as much as he can get. The other 52 guys are the Niners front office’s responsibility. There will be an ownership group that says “enough”. No fans can ever say the 49ers aren’t willing to pay top dollar. They’ll offer Purdy what they think he’s worth. He and his agent will have to decide what they want to do.

Greenlaw, Deebo and Hargrave all being gone are the reason Purdy will agree to a comparatively reasonable amount. The team is apparently not afraid to move on. Jerry Jones was afraid to move on.

Sounds more like what you hope than actual reality.

The Bills did not make him wait the way jerry did Dak maybe if he had been treated like allen he may have taken less for the team.

“Actual reality” isn’t far off. Purdy is going into his 4th and final year of his rookie deal. He can turn down any offer and bet on himself. He can be tagged for 2026. I think he’ll sign in the next few weeks for close to $45 million per season, 5 years, $130 million guaranteed.

After that leg injury you try and get whatever you can cause at any .moment it can end. Don't blame dak blame the front office for doing a piss poor job
