Why would Dak accept less to be here? The fault is on the FO for always trying to play chicken when they have no real plan. If you want to bargain Dak down, you actually DRAFT A QB HIGH or let Trey Lance actually get some kind of playing time to see if he can show something. No smart free agent is going to take less to be here because it's clear the money 'saved' isn't going to building the best team possible

They are over paying Dak, because he is comfortable playing for a GM that has no intention of trying to win.

Well are you surprised? He's the same one who decided Dak is responsible for the Cowboys leading the NFL in penalties committed by the whole team for multiple seasons.

Yet, couldn't tell me any other quarterbacks in NFL history who were blamed for their teams leading the NFL in penalties.

Dak isn't elite and appears to lack what it takes to lead us to a Superbowl victory, but he's obviously a pioneer. The first quarterback in NFL history responsible for many things regarding team issues and the short comings of a 53 man roster.

It’s more of being in the “right place at the right time” and riding the wave (Jerry buying the team and riding about as sure an investment as you can get based on history, tradition in a monopolized industry) than what really makes them successful in the industry that they’re actually involved in.

Players leaving because they know they will never win anything with him at quarterback, and fans like me who have finally had enough of Jerry's ignorance turning away.
The extension Jerry gave Dak on opening day of last year finished off any hope that the Cowboys we once knew and loved would ever return.

With that said.... true success in my opinion is being able to create generational wealth for your family for decades to come. Winning a championship in a team game is the ultimate career goal, but if a player doesn't win a championship, it doesn't mean he or she isn't successful.

Championship rings and trophies will never replace having generational wealth. If that weren't the case, there wouldn't be pawn shops around the country with championship rings, championship belts, and MVP awards.

The pawn shops in Vegas are full of them.

The Dak contract was horrendous when signed but as time goes on, it just gets worse.
The fact that Dak had to hold out for the Maximum amount feasible rubs me, and others I'm sure, just for the fact that he came across as more greedy than committed to winning.
Watching all the FA activity for all the other teams and how so many don't sign to the maximum but for amounts they seem respectable.
But not Dak. He didn't seem to give a squat about helping the team. He signed the most crippling contract he could for the teams sake.
Not only will his contract hinder us presently, with the restructures where they convert his salary to a bonus, he will be causing us cap problems well after he is gone for two to three years afterwards.
While his restructuring helps us short term, it will limit us for many years.
