Why no more signings. Don't we have 40 million in space?

LOL yacht fuel. I think it's a little cheaper since it's really just the first round pick. But either way, they have to do something this year. They have done nothing but tread water as usual. The plan they have been using for over a decade now doesn't win championships.

Then again, it could be money to carry over to fit in some future big cap hits.
All fine if it’s tied into some sort of rebuild plan, but it isn’t. Either you’re trying to win now or you’re not. These two probably think they can pull off some middle ground thing.

Rumblings are they wanna trade for courtland Sutton. If they do, they would need to pay him. Plus, they are working on Micah deal. Whatever they don't use, they may be wanting to roll it over to 2026.

That's why it's completely stupid to blame the highly-paid players (Dak) for the team's lack of FA activity.

We could have $4M or $40M of space and it makes no difference. We were cheap in free agency even when Dak was on his cheap rookie deal.

Jerry and Stephen should be blamed for this roster and NOBODY else.

"B-b-but what if we had $50M instead of $40M?!?! DAMN YOU, DAK!!"

Are they out on spring break???? Why no more signings - get another cb and wr signed. Best dl/de available would be good too.
We have a lot of guys that need extensions that are going to cost a lot of cap space. Micah alone is going to eat up 42+M. We also need to extensions for Deron Bland and Tyler Smith both of whom are looking at 20+M per.

We have around $30 million in usable cap space right now. When Parsons contract is done, that number will actually go up.

Problem is there is no one left in FA that is really worth serious cap money.

NOW if we could trade for someone with a big cap hit, it would be worth it.

But you know this brain dead FO will not do anything.
Yep.
Jerry has already said earlier about last year's 2 good impact FA signings in Dak and CD's contracts were a good thing last year..
And then followed it up with if they can do that one more time (with Micah) this year, that it would be a good thing.

That's the precursor for Micah to getting his mega deal and dealing with less than optimum free agents all over the place once again.

The Cowboy Way has been firmly established.

They technically could just sign their draft picks and carry forward the rest to re-sign players like Bland and Tyler Smith next year.

Perhaps they're saving some for a draft day trade for another teams player. Probably the best time to trade for an existing player, but I wouldn't hold my breath.

Yeah I was thinking exact same thing but was listening to Jeff Cavenagh explain that if they sign or trade for a guy for an amount of over 3.5mill per year to replace a guy that they lost, they then lose any compensary pick they may have gotten had they just lost the guy to free agency to another team.
The deadline for that is the date of the draft. So basically after the draft, this is no longer in effect and they can sign whomever they want without losing comp picks.
So obviously Cowboys, as well as other teams, will wait til after the draft to sign free agents they think will make it.
.
Good stuff

At this point, probably waiting until the draft is over.

There isn't much going on league wide.
Defensive Tackle
Offensive Tackle
Wide Receiver
Running Back

Cap use can change immediate view and allow more change to come into view for team strengths.

Cap can most strongly be used complimenting Lamb.

20M for the rollover.

Plus they have to pay the draft class.

Law summed it up well for me.

Free agency was just an appetizer. They are filling needs with decent vets with experience so they don’t feel pressed to draft (outside of WR and RB).

They can draft and if they miss out can then spend the remaining money on free agents.

But why am I going to overpay for Diggs when I can draft Tet?

Stephen Jones every time he has to manage the salary cap and re-sign one of the franchise players:
