This kid chose the Cowboys over, Steelers, Giants, Eagles, and Raiders........ can't blame him.

Sounds like his agent is fudging his bet that he has a better chance for a starting job behind Dak.
* compete with Dak within 2-3 years ( Dak's contract becomes less restrictive)
* No chance behind Hurts with Eagles
* Giants and Steelers probably would have been similar to Pats, playing behind a young franchise QB.
* Raiders are in the process of extending Geno few more years.

I love the fact he wanted to be here. This team has not had a QB worth developing since Dak was seen as that guy in 2016 behind Romo.

Too early to say if this trade will make up for the Trey Lance disaster but I can't wait to see how Milton develops here.

Dak has to deliver in big games this year. Period. It’s not about stats. It’s about playing his best and getting this offense to perform at its best when it absolutely has to.

Isn't this kinda like Joe Milton publicly disrespecting Dak Prescott by saying he is more certain his best future is in Dallas..? I mean, the Giants and Steelers HAVE NOT drafted their franchise quarterbacks. Whoever they pick is a complete unknown for both teams.

He has already decided he has zero chance of competing with question marks for those teams. Plus, Geno Smith has not been labeled as a 'dependable' starter until Seattle backed him. Yet, Milton does not wish to compete with a veteran quarterback, whom the Raiders are gambling on via a trade instead of through the draft?

I can understand about him avoiding Philadelphia and Jalen Hurts. No one is unseating a defending starting Super Bowl champion quarterback. Should he see Dallas actually being the easiest route to jumpstarting his career hopes?

That’s a good call, it makes 0 sense financially to drop him in 2026. Maybe 2027 if you don’t keep restructuring

I would have expected this as a public reason for making the trade happen--over openly saying other teams were ruled out due to their current or near future quarterback situations.

-Fast forward 2 years later and we applaud sending a 5th rounder for a player that was a 6 rounder 1 year earlier because they played decent in 1 game?


Anyone else see the irony in our fan logic? I'm rooting for Joe and hope he does well here and the trade ends up being a steal for the Cowboys. However, I just find it comical how we evaluate certain moves.

Trey Lance's risk was screaming red flags when the 49ers gave up on him after only 2-3 years, despite three 1st round picks invested.

Milton trade has way more upside than risk....

The thing is, Cowboys fans blame Dak because it is convenient.

But the fact is, he was three years old the last time this team even reached the NFC Championship Game. I can't lay three decades of failure at the feet of one player.

The only constant since January 28, 1996, has been the Jones Boys. Dak gets so much hate, even from fans of his own team, he's probably getting close to being in the underrated category.

Lance hardly played in college. The 49ers gave up the farm for him and bailed. But the Cowboys gave up a 4th round pick for him when no other team offered that much.

Milton played a lot more, was only a 6th round pick, and Dallas got him for a 5th and got a seventh back in the deal. And other teams outbid them but the Patriots settled for less out of respect for Milton, who wanted to be here.

Huge differences with these trades.
