Understood. Other folks have made similar observations. However, the Giants and Steelers have not turned in their first-round pick yet. It should be quarterback both times but that is still a question mark. Joe Milton has conceded he has zero chance of winning the starting position, for any length of time (barring injury), with both New York and Pittsburgh. That is a solid strategy for someone recognizing their talent isn't as a starter.I don't know. I would fully expect any first-round pick to be given every chance to start. Plus, the Giants added Russell Wilson, Geno Smith was added by the Raiders this offseason and anyone who keeps up with it knows Pittsburgh has been after Aaron Rodgers.
I think he looks here and sees an older quarterback coming off his second major injury in the past few years. Plus, there's no backup other than a journeyman.
Giants and Russell Wilson is a short-term relationship.
Geno Smith already had the backing of Pete Carroll before Carroll was hired by Las Vegas. FWIW, I will concede it was wise of Milton to scratch the Raiders off his list immediately after the Eagles for that reason.
I will enjoy seeing the Steelers actually lasso Aaron Rodgers. At first, I thought he and New York would be a good match. Injuries, and obvious decline in ability, and his narcissism proved me wrong. I seriously doubt Pittsburgh will be successful in getting more out of Rodgers than the Jets. Personally, I think Milton could have eventually replaced Rodgers in the short-term--whether through actual practice evaluation, game performance or probable injury.
I agree with what he sees as an opportune situation in Dallas. I simply do not think it should have been revealed publicly why Dallas seems to be his easiest route to realizing his career goals. The 'I always wanted to play for the Cowboys' would have been a more neutral, and less indicative, position for him to tell everyone why Dallas was his ideal destination.
