QB Trey Lance reached agreement with the Chargers

You are correct he will participate at training camp. He will be in the drills and he will take some snaps in pre-season. I am sure he will hit all $6M of his incentives.
as always you deflect your replies to save you looking like a clown. You state he will not see playing time...I replied, yes he will and mentioned nothing about hitting incentives. Keep trying.......

I guess we have different definitions of playing time. Yes he will warm up before each game. Fans will see him do that. I don't count that as playing time.

Playing time is in a real game. Not in a scrimmage on a Wednesday with the Chargers. Not in intersquad practices and not in pre-season games.

Wow, didn't Rush get $6M and change? Apparently we had $12M in backup QB's. Now it's $2M

Good for Lance, I understand gambling on him but didn't think it would be that pricey. Now I'm curious if the Jones family would have brought him back, but that is too rich for their blood.

Cap broke.

They still have to pay for the draft.

Plus the 20M+ rollover for 2026.

He faces an uphill battle for sure. But the kid has talent. If only he could have played a couple years of higher level college ball, things might be completely different.
It's possible the kid played it perfectly too. I probably would have done the same. Another season in college may have exposed him and dropped him to the third round or worse.

His career earnings, before this Chargers deal, was $34 million. He'll have $40M and he won't be 25 years old until next month. Even if he plays this year for the Chargers and retires this kid may have played his cards perfectly.

From a financial standpoint, yes, he should come out just fine.

I don't know about that.

If Herbert gets injured, Taylor Heinicke is the backup QB and has time/experience there with the Chargers, unlike Trey Lance. Lance would have to pass Heinicke for the backup QB position, and I don't see it happening unless Lance lights it up in training camp and preseason. After what has been seen from Trey Lance both with the 49ers and our Cowboys, I doubt it happens for Lance.
If Herbert goes down the Chargers will go nowhere. They’ll then go with the QB that give them the least chance of winning, but most beneficial draft position.
