The price for Dallas Cowboys star defender is only getting higher

FRISCO, Texas — DeMarvion Overshown has done it once, namely returning from a devastating knee injury to become one of the best young linebackers in the NFL, and he plans to do it again.

Having clawed his way back from a torn ACL in 2023 that deleted what would've been his rookie season for the Dallas Cowboys, he went on a Pro Bowl caliber stretch in 2024, only to suffer a torn ACL in his opposing knee later in the season when his leg was rolled up on; but ever smiling and strapped to his faith, Overshown sees himself back on the field at some point before the 2025 season is complete.

And with a swift return to his jaw-dropping level of play seen in 2024, at minimum.

"I'm expecting no dropoff," said Overshown in an exclusive interview before being unequivocal in declaring his goal for 2025. "I not only want to be nominated, but I want to be the [NFL] Comeback Player of the Year."

Says you...his player owes all to the organization and it's owner. Hold out above the process. I wouldn't kiss HIS butt for your approval as well. Son. He doesn't guarantee top pay no matter how you declare your own lack of legal expertise yourself.

Then you should know Mulugheta works for Micah Parsons. He will pay Mulugheta 3% of the value of the deal he garners from Jerry Jones. Even if you can’t understand that, Jerry Jones knows how it works. Micah is going to get a significant deal. It’ll be worth that 3% he’ll be signing the check for, and handing to his agent.

His greed isn't in place of Jerry's ownership...I keep on reminding about principals of legal limits. I don't think the agent determines entitlement for him.

Capitalism is an economic system characterized by private ownership of the means of production, where individuals or businesses own capital goods, and the production and pricing of goods and services are determined by market forces, driven by supply and demand.

It served as an early testament to the buy-in Schottenheimer already has within the locker room, evidenced further by Overshown taking to X (formerly known as Twitter) immediately following the press conference to post an image of a man running through a brick wall to put an image to how he feels about his new head coach.

Along with that change comes another move at defensive coordinator, as Mike Zimmer reportedly heads into retirement and a second reunion in as many years arrives in Dallas by way of Matt Eberflus returning to the organization to run the defense, marking Overshown's third coordinator in as many NFL seasons.

Eberflus was previously a heralded linebackers coach for the Cowboys, a skillset that will likely serve Overshown and another young, high-ceiling talent in Marist Liufau, very well going forward.

Cowboys LB DeMarvion Overshown and CB Trevon Diggs both suffered significant knee injuries in 2024 that cut their seasons short.

Due to the severity of both injuries, their statuses for the beginning of the 2025 season remain in question. Dallas EVP Stephen Jones gave an update on both players and acknowledged the possibility that they aren’t ready to begin the year.

“They have significant injuries. There’s a good chance that they may not start for us when the season starts. They may not be available,” Jones said, via Nick Harris.

Overshown, 24, was the defensive MVP of the 2020 Alamo Bowl and was also named first-team All-Big 12 in 2022. The Cowboys drafted him in the third round of the 2023 NFL Draft.

This is because the medical team for Dallas really is top of the line and Jerry doesn't demand paying the price for all demands instead of managing them.

The #Raiders are planning to move on from CB Jack Jones and are expected to release him this week if they can’t find a trade partner, per
@VinnyBonsignore
.

In 42 career games, he's recorded 27 pass defenses and picked off seven passes. He's returned four of his interceptions for touchdowns, proving to be a difference-maker once he gets his hands on the ball.

Jones has typically played outside corner throughout his career, but has the ability to play in the slot as well. That makes him a name to watch as Dallas looks to fill out their depth chart.

Try football, or shut the hell up...

But if the moon is rising in arias, does the cause justify the effect, or are you just a momma's boy with suspenders?

Prove to me what is wrong with suspenders and where is YOUR football beyond a heckle and jeckle routine.

You just a wannabe hillbilly? Or supportive of a team that is growing once again?

Yes, but in this case, the Cowboys could have saved a ton of money by signing Parsons before the market at Parsons’ position exploded. The Cleveland Browns re-signed Myles Garrett, their own edge superstar, to a massive four-year, $160m extension in March with $124m guaranteed. The Browns had to pay the 30-year-old Garrett at the top of the market for his position because Garrett was making all kinds of noises about not even wanting to be a part of the roster any more, given the team’s struggles to be competitive.

Parsons, who will turn 26 next month and is just coming into the prime of his career, will no doubt draw more than this when he eventually agrees a new deal, and use the amount of money Garrett got as leverage – he can reasonably argue he should get more than Garrett considering he is four years younger and not even at his peak yet.

McClay became the Cowboys’ senior director of pro/college scouting in 2015 after several years as a scout, scouting coordinator, and director of football research for the team, and with McClay in charge, Dallas have outpaced most other NFL teams in terms of adding talent in the draft. Per a recent Pro Football Network study, the Cowboys rank sixth in terms of homegrown talent in the draft – 60.8% of the roster.

Say you were drafted out of college and right out of the gate were guaranteed enough money to live very comfortably and enough money that most of us regular folk could turn into life long comfort and security. You then developed into an elite player at your position.

The time then comes to begin to think about your next contract. You know how things work. You know the next guy makes more than the last guy. You also know that there a couple comparables who are also up for a new deal.

What are you going to do? Are you going to just go ahead and agree to a contract earlier then you have to and before the other guys get paid, or are you going to maximize your opportunity and sit back and let the other guys go first?

I am in no way defending Jerry, but how can we know the failure to sign any of these guys "early" is all on Jerry?
This has logic but the counter logic to it is why does it happen with every one of the contracts...for sure it happens other places but not every time. Other FO's seem to get thiers done sooner. Do i know its Jerry, no, can i read the history and logically say its Jerry..yeah thats a logical answer givin the facts.

That often comes with light and fast applied excuse and not gut level solutions.

CC i get what your saying but as a fan not an employee how would you suggest i go about helping them solve the problem?
Just be a fan and root like hell for them when they play. For football, that still works. Not a presidential hidden agenda financial concept.

I continually remind myself to be patient and not chunk a lamp at the TV. :thumbup:Otherwise, understand the truth and never is there a right way to do the wrong thing. Morale or ethics.
