Slot Corners

Parrish is a guy I'd take if given the chance. In some mocks I have done I have traded up into the 4th using a multitude of our later 5,6 7th rd picks and drafted him there. But honestly, I don't see him getting that far.
Probably has to use 76 on him.

Those little 29” baby arms are most likely going to limit him to slot. Can’t see nor expect anyone using a top 15 pick on a slot corner. Someone will most likely take the chance in the mid 20s hoping that he’s an outlier because of his skillset but that’s about as high as I would go!
That's the whole issue, if he is just a slot only player, not worth a 1st rd pick.

Baron isn't slot only. There are some outside corners with similar builds that are/were successful. If you have the speed and foot quickness "which lewis didn't have" that's what makes you slot only. Does barron lack speed?

Right!
When you’ve played in 5 SBs over the last 7 or 8 seasons it’s alot more palatable to take a chance on a player like McDuffie hoping they’re an outlier than it is when you haven’t sniffed at one in 30 years!

Yeah,
They’re called outliers…
Do you have the luxury of dropping to 15 picks in hopes of someone being an outlier when you haven’t sniffed at a SB in 30 years?

real teams don't worry about outliers. Dallas needs to start being a real team. You take good football players. That's the name of the game

the better way to look at it is how many corners at his size/speed/pedigree have failed.

Last 2 examples look pretty good to me. Witherspoon, McDuffie.

(1st) Jahdae Barron, Texas
(2nd) Maxwell Hairston, Kentucky
(3rd) Jacob Parrish, Kansas State
(3rd) Quincy Riley, Louisville- Favorite for the Cowboys*
(5th) Jordan Hancock, Ohio State*
(5th) Alijah Huzzie, North Carolina*
(6th) Jaylin Smith, USC
(6th) Jabbar Muhammad, Oregon
(7th) Robert Longerbeam, Rutgers
(7th) Shamari Simmons, Arizona State*

Underrated Slots I like
UDFA Jonathan Baldwin, UNLV*
UDFA Marcus Harris, Cal*
UDFA Lamareon James, TCU*

If they don't take Riley at pick 76, I think it will be Hancock or Huzzie at pick 149.

I don't think they go outside CB until next draft. It's probably the strongest position group next year. It's as deep as the RB class was this year. Expect them to cut/trade Diggs after this season.

2026 Draft
1. Jalon Kilgore, South Carolina
2. Domani Jackson, Alabama
3. Avieon Terrell, Clemson
4. Ashton Stamps, LSU
5. Christian Gray, Notre Dame
6. Jermod McCoy, Tennessee
7. Theran Johnson, Oregon
8. Jayire Hill, Michigan
9. Will Lee lll, Texas A&M
10. Mansoor Delane, LSU
11. D'Angelo Ponds, Indiana
12. Chandler Rivers, Duke
13. Daylen Everette, Georgia
14. Malik Muhammad, Texas
15. Ricardo Hallman, Wisconsin
16. Xavier Scott, Illiniois
17. Jermaine Mathews Jr., Ohio State
18. Smith Snowden, Utah
19. Kayin Lee, Auburn
20. Charles Brantley, Miami

That's just my top 20 their are another 20-30 that are draftable in next years class.
If it were me I would wait until day 3 this year and grab a slot and a UDFA.
Then in 2026 draft a solid outside guy to replace Diggs in the first two rounds.

Do we have anyone ( other than Bland ) on the roster who could compete for starting job? I'm asking coz I don't know. Keep in mind, Lewis was a 4th round pick and Bland a 5th rounder. So if we are talking particularly slot CB, they may not address it until day 3.
Our wise GM Jethro traded for Elam.

He played outside at Kentucky, but my favorite corner is Maxwell Hairston.

Dude will be a baller.

Just about every player with risk we’ve taken has failed!
And yes most teams do… otherwise Asante Samuel wouldn’t have been picked in the 4th.

So 2 out of 100s haven’t!
I'd have to see the names of 29/30 inch arm corners that run 4.4 with college production to do the accurate ratio of who failed on the outside or not. But it's not that important to me. I just know arm length isn't a major factor for me. Much more important traits at cb than that in my opinion but it's all good.

Eh, I think I just read an article stating that Pete Carroll wouldn’t take a CB with arms under 32”. Looking at our current CBs Diggs 32 1/2, Bland 32, Carson 31 3/8, even Lewis 31 5/8!
Elam is only one under 31” at 30 1/2 and he ran 4.3s.
It may seem petty to us but it means something to the people actually making the picks!

Pete took Devon witherspoon though. I'd take him over diggs or bland

Will the Cowboys consider Mukuba as a slot corner? Heard this in the draft show and he does have experience playing the role. Might be better off upgrading the safety spot but something to keep in mind

It is one of the key traits scouts look for at the position, especially for the scheme we will be playing in. They want to rush four and clog up all the passing lanes. Great length will cause many deflections that in turn cause turnovers

The last great secondary players in that scheme was Tillman and Ronde. Both less than 32 inch arms. I'm not buying that. I mean yall can but I'm not. I firmly believe that is the least important trait for a corner.

If I’m the Cowboys and dead set on drafting a CB in Round 1, I would consider taking Barron and putting him opposite of Bland while Diggs comes back. Then, once Diggs is back, I’d move Barron to slot.

Starting trio of Diggs, Bland, and Barron is formidable.
